If they do start in this I’d expect the draw to be 12s fairly quickly

Do you reckon he might have a shot at SPOTY instead of Stokes,
assuming Eng win and it's attributed to his nuclear-strike bowling?

yeah the skies the limit for him,if we win ashes he will be the game changer and the hype will see him right up there...stokes has to many skeletons and the BBC will be deleting his  votes

Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

It's one of those that you'd like to lose the toss because 60% of you would like to bat. But I'd still think I'd like to bat. It's going to do something so you'll have to bat well.

Alastair Cook
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special

With the cloud now, it is tempting to bowl. Either side could lose the game in that first session. when you could lose six or seven wickets. I think both captains would want to bowl, because you'll still be in the game whatever happens.

@ Terry - Yeah I've wondered about the Beeb's attitude to his history.
I can't see them being as forgiving as a jury when choosing who to offer up for a public vote.
In a field of six they'll only want one from each sport. I reckon they'd be obliged to nom Stokes
if we lost the Ashes cos of the World Cup but a win gives them the option to choose a less tainted hero.

And that is my theowy wot it is (that it is).

Post update
Peter Siddle was wearing his civvies at breakfast this morning by all accounts and has been in to say hello to the TMS lot - fair to guess the bowler is not playing for the Aussies today.

I'm not questioning how forgiving the public might be, just whether the Beeb will allow it to happen.
I think they would have prefered if a woman or two were serious contenders this year as it's been a while
and we know how they love to Gerrymander.

Fatslogger, i knew you suffered a big loss but also knew you would be coping well.

Good to see that is the case.

With the current selection method I don't think the BBC can do much to stop him

Australia have won four of their last five men’s Tests against England at Headingley (L1), this after having won only one of their 10 such fixtures beforehand (D3, L6).
