You are regualrly berating these Umpires, maybe fairly at times but they are not the reason England are losing this match. If anyone should be under the spotlight it is the Selectors, The Manager, the Captain, the Bowlers, the tictacs!

Woakes looks a better Test match batsman than either Buttler or Bairstow

The amount of nonsense on the forum regarding umpires was clear in the world cup final.
Kumar dharmasena got it wrong and people started questioning why he was there in the first place. He was there because he was the umpire of the year. If you think he didn't deserve to be standing in the final, you have an issue with the whole ICC umpiring system because if the umpire of the year isn't good enough for you, you are the one with the problem. |

The reaction of the batsman is often a pretty good indicator on whether a decision is "good" or "bad".
If Jonny is reviewing it instantly and saying it didn't hit his glove, how can Wilson 22 yards away be saying with 100% certainty that it did? We are playing Australia. Do you think their batsmen will say jolly good shout Umpire, yes I did hit that! |

Agreed. Both him and Curran need to try and force their way into the side as batsmen. If Anderson was fit neither would be likely playing at Lords! The thing is there are vacancies at 3 and 6 |

You're gonna have Kamran Akmal fake a heart attack everytime he's given out and reviews. Are you going to give him not out becase the reaction of the batsman clearly showed it was a wrong decision?

I didn't either
3rd umpire was brought into the discussion |
|
By:
Its not that you are wrong about it. Its just that you expecting the third umpire to consider a batsman's reaction in his decision isn't something I expected you to say.
I didn't say that did I tom! |
|
By:
Ok then i misunderstood both of you. apologies.
But i stil don't get how the reaction of the batsman can be used to make a correct decision considering it comes after the decision is given. |

no worries det
I didn't say use bairstow's reaction as part of the umpire decision making I merely suggested that his instant review implied that he hadn't hit it which replays couldn't conclusively confirm or deny and hence the onfield call had to stand |
|
By:
![]() Different argument DT! But looking for the Batsman reaction is not only in the Laws but plain stupid. |
|
By:
Ok.
But what is the issue here? The umpire thought it was out. And we know from the replays that even with the benefit of replays we can't figure out what exactly happened. That's how close it was. |

By:
some might say jo-el went off the aussie fielders reactions!!

If a batsman refers instantly then its highly likely the umpire gave the wrong decision.
