Thanks for that.
I'm going to tread carefully with your link though, I got caught the other day clicking on something entitled "very grassy wicket" which turned out not to be cricket related. |

I am with you 100% on technique injera.
Drive for show, put for dough! The wide stance is not just prevalent in modern cricket but has been encouraged by England coaches if I think from Duncan Fletcher. As you said once the base is set it is very difficult to transfer weight except with the swing. If the swing is through the wrong arc not much adjustment can be made. The fact is we play on very good pitches now and batsmen get away with it. Any hint of movement and they bat like an Under XL team. |

Too true sir.
Well, it's been a happy week without an England batting collapse. This time tomorrow though.... I'm red on Windies hoping for some panic that Holder is out but the price aint budging (and why should it!!) Fitness doubts over Woakes, Foakes and Stokes and I didn't make that up ![]() |
By:
jennings back in the side a week after his career was effectively finished. what a shambles of a tour this has been
By:
Foakes ,the one player whose technique against the quicks looked sound has been dropped and Jennings gets another gig!!!f, selectors must have had a touch too much sun!
By:
Isn't Foakes by some way the best wicketkeeper of the trio ?
Must be injured surely. |
By:
He’s not injured according to a report I saw, and yes he is probably the most naturally gifted wicket-keeper of the three.
By:
Not sure what Eng selectors up to and how each team will treat the game considering its a dead rubber. I have cashed out with 36 bucks all green. Will again try to back any funny odds or lay the draw.

Poteen can only be the pure stuff, flabergasted.
By:
He did have that knock so there's the line.
Pretty sure England will play with true false grit. |
By:
Not just the best keeper, he might prove to be the best Test Batsman!....if given a chance!
By:
Looks like:
Jennings Burns Denly Root Bairstow (wk) Stokes Moeen Curran Wood Broad Jimmy |
By:
Buttler out ?
By:
Oh I forgot him.... I just don't see Curran as a bowler on this tour..Must be Buttler for Curran then? Gotta play Wood. |
By:
Surely can't go from three keepers to one, just wouldn't make sense that.
By:
Can't see much desire to backtrack on Curran either, too much sense that.
By:
buttler is the vice captain, will bat 5 and has the most consistent run scorer since the beginning of last summer. really though he should take the gloves and bairstow must bat in the top 5. bairstow cannot be batting 6 or 7 when we have so few decent top order options. he is the 2nd best bat in the side although he's been nothing like that over the last year
once they get back home surely roy must be an option and even go back to vince. he's got far more talent and has looked better in patches than any of the other top 3 batsmen who have had a go recently |
By:
george dobell on cricinfo absolutely scathing about the selection of this side saying basically they haven't got a clue what their best side is. hard to disagree

Is this England's worst ever top 3 ? doesn't seem too long ago when it was Cook, Strauss , trott.

Id like to see Thomas play, could murder the top order with the big man and they bat down to Dowich anyway so really require Keemo, most probable England will require chemo, but first leg is said up to a set outfield or even actual rain, took 10s, I know it makes sense. Ha

Don't require Keemo

bit harsh on burns at this stage and he's certainly earned the right to play with a mountain of runs over a number of seasons. denly is obviously extremely lucky to be getting a game and jennings must have just about the worst record of any england top order batsman who's played a decent number of tests
utter negligence to have no proper reserve batsman on the tour. denly's only there cos he can bowl a few joke leggies |

Weird selection!
Foakes is the fall guy for sure. I agree to let Wood have a crack but if young Curran plays what diffence is there to having 5 seamers or 3 wicketkeepers? In the circumstances the Captain should have made the sacrifice and batted at 3. I kinda understand the reason for Denly at 3 but it would appear even from limited sighting he is not the answer at 3 and Jennings not the answer at the top so what is the point with the Ashes coming up and the series lost unless they are earmarking Denly for 3 in the Ashes?! I agree with Atherton that the balance of the side is better with 3 front line fast bowlers and Stokes as the all rounder and 4th seamer ( for overs bowled as opposed to kwality ). The problem is the personnel is wrong. I do not have an answer for that but even as a big fan of Jos Butler as I am I would rather have Bstard at 5 and Foakes at 7. The problems still persist with the top 3. Burns looks like he has a chance and maybe Root should bat at 3 for now. We need to find another opener quick and if neccessary I would just opt for Roy or Hales and tell them to bat up top. We know what they can do and their deficiencies. I would love to see Oshane Thomas and Gabriel throwing it down. West Indies have a free shot at humiliating England on a fast wicket and should take it! |

He should be stepping up , taking control. Should be saying I will anchor and above me attacking Player one of Hales/Roy and below Butler with more balance provided by Foakes, Bairstow floating. Come to Daddy draw price, u know it makes sense |
By:
Dobell nails it not for the first time. An excellent piece that is far removed from most of the more mainstream journos who are far too soft.
Bairstow's gone from 7 to 3 to 7 in 18 months. Moeen has opened, gone 3, 6 and 7. 8 here? Root's reluctance to bat 3 has caused a lot of trouble. It remains a big ask for Buttler to play as a specialist batsman and average 40+. Let's face it it's a team of number 7s. Jennings' immediate return defies belief. Picked, dropped, picked, dropped and picked again. Just like Ballance.. Bayliss has to go. |
By:
Will it be a delayed start. Not to scare or mislead.

By:
Thankfully i cashed out or would have been on the wrong side of this Windies drift. Now backed them at 3.45 for another 2 tick trade.
By:
Two teams, two one sided games. One or two team changes but surely another thrashing for England is a 1.5 bet? I can't see any rational reason for this to be any different. I made the same comment before the second game and watched in amazement as people were willing to back England. Now you have 2 results just in case you didn't believe the first one.

By:
Windies have over performed and Eng have under performed...Windies have also won both tosses and now they are without number 1 ranked allrounder.
