My sources at the Darren Sammy Stadium in Gros Islet tell me that Jason Holder has been suspended from the third test. The current best all rounder in the world won't be playing folks. Lump on England.

Windies drifted from 3.54 to 2.8
England shortened from evens to 1.85 |
|
By:
I got a chunk of Eng at 1.99 but windies lays didn't get matched.

Windies drifted did they

Have you not spotted the error................
As regards slow over rate, i get it but the punishment is extreme and they had two days left to play but they were not required, so WTF.......dO SOMETHING ABOUT 3 DAY GAMES MUDDER FCUKERS.. |
|
By:
Well, you can't reward Holder for England's failure to bat time. Windies batted 130 overs which is standard for a 5-day game.
|
|
By:
3.54 TO 2.8 NOT SO
i never mentioned reward...the punishment is disproportionate to the crime imho especially when they cant their own shi t together |
|
By:
Not sure I understand what you mean. You mean they were 3.54 at the start of last match and 2.8 now?
Windies have been traded so far at as low as 2. They've drifted out to 2.8 and now shortening again. Wtf you on about pecker? ![]() |

you cant drift in fella |

Pecker and det, I’ve no idea what you’re both on about; neither of you seems to know what the other one is on about and frankly, I deeply suspect neither of you knows what he’s on about either. Other than that though, you both come across as total pros.
On a quick recheck, pecker is actually making sense. I think you have to enforce bans for slow over rates. It’s too easy for teams to take a tactical advantage from not bowling quickly enough otherwise. That there wasn’t much of one this series (apart from not tiring the bowlers out as much, which doesn’t apply when you only keep them in the field for about two sessions mostly) isn’t the point and can’t be factored in. |

By:
Backed Eng at 1.92 with £500 with 1 tick offset and greening....nabbed about £2.50 on all 3 outcomes.
Will be backing Eng again |
|

Instead of banning Holder, the umpires could just ban the 12th men from coming on every over. No unofficial drinks breaks, no sub fielders unless you're injured etc
The umpires have lost all authority and they leave the match referee to adjudicate later on. |
|
By:
There should be no drinks brought onto the field apart from the designated hourly break.
It's a test match ffs, should be test of all aspects of your batting, including conditioning etc. The amount of liquid they consume is ridiculous, I'm surprised they don't piss themselves at the crease |
|
By:
Well like we piss ourselves while they are batting

I think its the improvement in sports science that has resulted in these frequent drinks breaks(and overall fitter athletes). My guess is couple of decades ago people didn't have much clue about the body and hydration. Now they have all kinds of experts among the coaching staff and one of them has to be a master or something in sports science. SO if their science says the body functions at its best when given a specific amount of liquid at specific intervals, they'll do it. Cricket laws are all over the place anyways so no one's stopping them from getting clever.
|
|
By:
If you want a drink go off the pitch and get one. No problem! Correct the laws need changing. The batsmen should be able to get a drink if neccessary. The fielding side have no excuse for stopping the game. No subs if you come off the pitch!
|
|
By:
The players are indeed fitter. Some would say pampered too.
Being fit doesn't help technique though. It should help concentration but it doesn't look like it!! |

I wasn't as critical of the ENgland batters last game. I still think if one of them like Root or Bairstow come to the party, the rest will up their game. It isn't their inability to bat time that bothers me. Its their attitude to having accepted the fact that they can't bat time is what bothers me when backing them now. And on top of all this, they have a batting coach! Bairstow said in the first innings that he never felt in and threw the kitchen sink at it. Windies openers batted out 21 overs the same day and the ball was still doing a lot.
|
|
By:
Anyhow, I have managed to squeeze some juice out of the draw by backing it at 11 and now laying off at 9.6
|
|
By:
you could easily say no substitutes for the first 15 mins off the field. that would cover genuine injury and stop all this wandering off for 5 mins all the time
|

India dropped Pujara because of his slow strike rate and I firmly believe KL Rahul saw this and changed his game. He was a beast at times in the IPL but his Test Match technique has just gone. He can play correctly. Only now do India and particularly the batters coming in after Pujara or rather with Pujara appreciate his efforts none more so I am guessing than the Captain.
Why do we need two attacking players in the top 3? I would settle for one good player no matter how fast he scored! |
|
By:
I am wondering which team has more motivation to win the next game?
|
|
By:
Ha I'd say Windies for sure
|

By:
I took profit on my previous Eng backs, new order £500 at 1.89

Decent chat from Athers and Nasser about County Cricket not producing top 3 players. Their argument that seaming pitches in April, May and September means many players prefer to bat 4, 5 and 6.
Whilst that's true I would come at it differently. Wonderful batting surfaces for years have produced hand eye batsmen instead of players who rely on feet and being side on to the ball. Very few English players can play a defensive shot (let alone a drive) and hold the pose. They're not balanced. The back leg comes through and they end up square on. Hence they get bowled or nick off. If anything, playing 4 day crick early season should be producing orthodox techniques. |

There are a few Ashes Day 5 tickets available at Lords if anyone is interested!
Do any of you Northern Monkeys know if there are any tickets available at a ground near you? |

What I know and have seen in line with what you have said. 1 Play from a solid base 2 Be able to transfer weight 3 Try to get your head over the ball 4 Follow through or rotate hips or play with soft hands 5 If your back foot is leaving the turf or you have to over extend on side then you should probably not be playing a shot When I look at England dismissal i find one of above prevalent. |
|
By:
Bend the knee obviously

Not prevalent

Pecker - And yet so called cricket journos don't pick up on yourr points. They fail to question county coaches let alone Bayliss, Farbrace and Ramprakash.
Wider stances (like in golf and baseball) allow for striking the ball further but don't allow for transfer of weight which is crucial in cricket. They don't get their head over the ball because golfers and batters in baseball don't! High front elbows obstruct the follow through so they're out too! |
