Actually Curran's farming of the strike was even superior...more than once

Silva is more a Pujara type player that is why I cited him!

267 and counting is extremely poor bowling on a deck like this. So many cut shots

A 1 innings shoot out reflected in the market, I'm staying out of this for the time being.

Thought a short run was just a run that didn't count, didn't realise it was a dead ball and 5 penalty runs?  What rule is taht?

England gonna post 400 2nd innings, this wicket flattens out as the game progress..

Not that I think for a moment that this is drawn but the price is surprisingly static given where it was pre play today and indeed when the 8th wicket fell.
By:

this pitch is not going to flatten out

Maybe no longer a 1 innings shoot out lanka are heading for a sizeable lead.......40 runs or better.    If you look at balls faced and survived Lanka already have enough.

how can they score 300 if its a minefiledCrazy

poor bowling + it's not a slow wicket, you can still play your shots

actually turning too much and negating LBs

That would favour Lanka who put less revs on ball.

Often spun too much. Hard to get bowled or LBW. Hard to find the edge too!

Just shows that you still have to bowl well on a helpful surface and England couldn't find a steady groove.

These ludicrous field settings don't help. How do you set a batsman up when he can cloth one for a single every 2 or 3 balls?

I think SL are way ahead of the game. They must surely trade a lot lower. With Leach opening we now have Curran at 9...

seems the pundits have misread the pitch. certainly hasn't been impossible to bat on. very fast scoring rates for sub continent cricket too

still you'd imagine england will do well to set sri lanka many more than 200 to win now

very much an even match !! Curran is arguably the best number 9/10 in the world at the moment, England to score 300 plus and England with three half decent spinners will skittle lanka out Happy

Hi guys, so whats the rush to score ,its only day 3 England dont need to win so why not just take it easy and play as long as necessary. Is the draw not a player here? Am I missing something? Not a cricket expert just wondering. Thanks .

Draw is not a player really unless the weather comes into play. According to the forecast there is a >90% chance of rain on all 3 days - but it always says that in Sri Lanka.

If anything, draw going out at the moment. As that’s put my green mostly on the draw, I’d rather like at least a bit of England taking it gently. I also tipped a bit more of my result green on England as I quite liked 2.8 with SL batting last.

Ok guys I understand that you dont think it will be a draw but I still in my ignorance cant understand why if you are 1-0 up in an away series you wouldnt want to play for one.
By:
Richie_Burnett
When: 15 Nov 18 22:10
It's a 3 match series.

Thanks Richie I understand that, so if you get a draw you cant lose series but if you go for a win you can. Think I watch too much of the oval ball game Confused

I would have thought racing with that handle!

Modern cricket is trending heavily away from draws for many reasons (look at the crunchyfrog thread or follow him on twitter). In any case, the bird has flown in this game for a non-weather related draw.

Yeh 20 wickets in two days & neither side has bowled particularly well yet.
It's one of those decks where you are never in.
Just think it will be a continuation of runs and steady wickets.
Nothing keeping low yet either and a lot of the big spinning balls are harmless.
These sort of wickets can be tricky from a betting point of view and you can get carried away seeing the ball turn at right angles.

Another pretty dull game for me betting wise. Seem to be stuck in a rut of small reds & small greens after a big win in UAE.
