As I'm sure most of us have seen by now, England unchanged, Stokes slated to bat at 3....
....which is a good thing IMO, as he has a better technique than Buttler, and a better temperament (for batting at 3) than Root, which I am basing on the fact that Root doesn't want to do it. I think that the reshuffle in the batting order makes England stronger. I heard talk of Kandy being more conducive to seam, but Lakmal has asked for a turner, so unless it rains big time, it's hard to see a draw. I've started with a draw lay at 3.75, and I'm not planning on making too many trades. Hopefully, none at all - lump lay and leave, it's the alliterative way forward. |

they're saying it's a really dry pitch and could disintegrate from ball 1 judging by the way the draw price is flying out

You just don’t get drawn games in Sri Lanka so a heavy draw lay is the play. Naturally I made a small lay at 3.6 then backed half of it off again at 3.75 looking to trade and failing. Hmm. I should just lay for thousands but I’ve psychologically trapped myself now.

I recall Dhoni asking for a bunsen in India in 2013. Worse thing he could have done. Monty and Swann did the rest.

Why would SL want a Bunsen?
Beggars belief if they lose the toss they are toast. The pitch will make our spinners look world class or maybe they are so poor at the moment they think Russian Roulette is their best chance. I strongly fancy England. Should have jumped on board at 2.4 but will now wait until the toss |

Oh and EngerlNd bat first and are 30-3 it will be a full bank job except Engla d will already be priced in at 30-3!

The last game here the ball turned and bounced appreciably. Also there was a lot of help for the seamers, pace, bounce and movement.
SL got rolled twice in less than 120 overs and it was unplayable at times. Not had a bet yet, missed the big draw move and will wait for the toss |

Stokes is definitely the best candidate for 3 at present.
He has matured enough to play a long patient innings but is also dynamic enough to take advantage of loose bowling. Also has the best technique in the current team. England's batting line up reminds me of the Kiwis in the early 00's when they had all their best players in the middle to bottom order. Often 4/5 down for spit and then lots of later order resistance |

Sandakan bowled well here last year, surprised he doesn't get selected

Pushpakumara hasn't played much for SL as he's a SLA but now Herath has gone expect him to feature often.
He has over 600 wickets in FC cricket at 19s! Pretty much a like for like bowler |

I believe by viewing market England bat!

Nothing official but the way Eng came in quickly there tells me they won toss and bat!

Correct^^^
Massive boost for England backers England (Playing XI): Rory Burns, Keaton Jennings, Ben Stokes, Joe Root(c), Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Ben Foakes(w), Sam Curran, Adil Rashid, Jack Leach, James Anderson |
|
By:
was massive lump wanting to back SL at 2.9 even after they'd lost the toss
|
|
By:
Now Eng drifting pack to pre toss levels, odd but I'm getting on them anyway.

After stating I would not bet before the toss I woke up to find I had bet half my match fee on England and also had a cheeky bet on Bet365!
I am glad I am full of sheite at times. Must have been the bottle of wine and Pizza before I went to bed! Going to hope for a batting collapse here. I genuinely believe the result of this game has been called. That is I appreciate a stupid thing to say but I am going to keep the rest of my powder dry for now even though England are imho still a steal @ 1.77 |
