They could be facing an old ball under lights. May not move as much or trouble set batsmen but yeah can't see anything but an Aussie win. They are not show enough intelligence or courage to make a game of this.
Trapped on the crease again to a full one, who'da thought it! at last some luck! |

broad had better pitch it up to garry, otherwise I may start to get rather cross.

looks impossible under lights with the newie

Also you can see that Woakes was under cooked. Too him 4 innings to get it together!
Tell Broad to bowl off stump or get him off! Bring Jimmy back on if you have to. |

seriously stuart, you've seen woakes and anderson do the right thing.
you bowl short here and..... |

england with an almost imperceptible sniff here. first hour crucial tomorrow. need 3 more.
|
|
By:
yes, the ball has not moved around like this before tonight. It was a tough call but you'd expect Aussie to get three wickets with a new ball at night even if it did not move around like tonight.
England have not shown they have enough skill, application or courage to score the runs. I dare to dream but not with this current side. We still have problems with 1,2,3 and 5. We miss Stokes and need a fast bowler and we haven't got a spinner at the moment but I suggest the Ashes will be lost tomorrow in any case. |
|
By:
Stokes has now been cleared of the Bristol incident, get him straight back in the side regardless.

For the sake of not wanting another 5-0 hammering down there can we just Stokes in? Its no fun watching a demoralised team get taken apart, weve seen it too many times. Even if we lose 3-1 for example, at least weve won a test and not been disgraced.

Hi guys
Not an expert on trading at cricket, but i think 17/1 the draw is huge for the following reasons 1.Australia do not have to win ,they will not declare for less than 400 in my opinion and if it takes them all day so what. 2.England cant afford to lose , a draw from this position will seem like a win. there are still 3 games to go and only 1 win is needed to keep ashes. 3. Both captains have made bad decisions, so as long as neither loses its not going to be an ongoing problem. 4. The pitch is easy. 5. Ok,we were absolute rubbish batting in first innings, I really dont think we can play that badly again (only my opinion). 6 Cant see the draw getting any bigger... As I say no expert, just love the game and for once wanted to offer an opinion. Please let me know where I am going wrong. Too late to save my money as I have gone in large but hey the the bigger the risk the bigger the reward |

Oridnarily I would agree with you but this England side have not shown the cajones to bat 4 sessions. They will have at least two night sessions to negotiate.
I thought their best hope was a draw in all honesty as Auss will not declare for less than 450 lead that takes them to the last session. If England do skittle them tomorrow they do have a chance as they have time on their side. In the latter case the batsmen will have time to get their eye in before the evening session. It is not safe to assume the ball will swing like a banana every night. If they can block out the night session they may well have an opportunity to put pressure on Aus before the final night session but even then we cannot assume the ball will not swing around like a banana. 17-1 is a good punt as is an England win if they chase less than 350 but be prepared to lose your money. History and the odds are not in your favour and there is not much scope for cashing out if it goes bansai early on. |

Can England keep them out there till after tea.
Can England get through them long before tea. Can England have 7 wickets at least starting day 5. Plenty of reasons to view the draw as a good trade. Not sure that will be the outcome. |

Yesterday was the best day for batting and we farked it up!
The first session was not difficult and the middle session has been shown to be the session to fill your boots I just wonder if England tried to push too hard thinking about the evening session Maybe their game plan was to get as many as possible in the first two sessions? Anyway it came across as a bit hectic. The evening session under lights is as difficult as any in test cricket We didn't even bowl that well and we could have had 6/7 wickets. Knowing we have to do it maybe twice feels impossible. The only way England can win is if we get 6 for spit & then don't lose any wickets til the evening session. If we are say 200/5 chasing 325 on the last day then we have a sniff |

I like the look of Overton, he's got a bit of mongrel in him. A fair few of the England players are too nicey nice for me.
We need a bit of fire & he's languishing in NZ |
|
By:
expect england to be batting for a good hour after lunch or whatever they call it now if they don't bowl them out. should be well over 400 ahead by then
