I agree that it makes it more entertaining but if they lose the series 2-1 the press will slaughter the captain and management.

the opposition is a big factor in the decision sage

if this was an ashes series and eng led by 1 test with 1 more test to go, there is zero chance that eng would have declared

but its the WI...

Root's task is to turn England into a ruthless winning machine. He will have opportunities in the winter to declare and we will have to be brave if he wants to retain the Ashes.

Windies have no Gayle or Lara. If Root can't back his bowlers to win this game he never will.

I think the Windies will give it a go, better to die on your feet than live on your knees.

Had £200 @ 18.5, will think about laying off my stake if it gets to about 7 or 8 then take it from there

anyone know if Woakes and Broad are available to play at T20 finals day
By:

When: 28 Aug 17 18:42
They should be, its why the Test Match is a week later, so any England players can play for their county, if selected, for t20 finals day.

It would be a great pity if the windies screwed the pooch in the first hour tomorrow morning. It's been a great test, and deserves an exciting finish.

cheers cricketnut I thought they would be and Woakes in for Hannon Dolby and home advantage will give the Bears every chance

I'm not certain though, it maybe the Test is a week later, because Sky cover both T20 cricket and Test Matches until the end of the Windies series, but I would of thought they ought to be, although their contracted to play for England, so they will have the final say.

Can survive 540 balls on a day 5 pitch 200+ of them from Moeen?  Saturday was Sensational for them but I can't see them doing 2 Sensationals in 4 days. Plain

Exactly what I've been thinking. They've played more than their fare share of good cricket.

At best they give hope before collapsing. I won't be backing them to pull off a victory here.

Its overcast at Headingly and the covers were on fully at 9.45am, but they are expected to start on time and the weather gets better as the day progresses.

that was an absolutely abject, shambolic, dispirited, spineless display of bowling as you'll ever have the misfortune to behold by Windies yesterday afternoon..160 odd runs added with total impunity for one wkt down after the 7th wkt had fallen
the amount of free 4s ceded was beyond disgraceful
this side are a rudderless rabble
NO way they survive today
there may be some 'token' resistance but they will eventually crumple like a cheap suit as sure as night follows day
for the odds on hitters free money

If the openers see off Broad and Anderson, the draw might be favourite by lunch time.

They will give hope. Not Kyle and Shai. Real hope of a draw. Then they will turn to their pathetic self. Moeen takes a 5 wicket haul.

You spread your bets like I do. Too many past bet-matches missed by one-tick?
