Match won't be moved, but what will happen if there is a bad aftershock?

Some rain forecast day 1 and I'll look for a draw back to lay.

Not the NZ draw lay to back? Draw is pretty short for a back right now at 2.8 or so. Backing under that is only for Hobart green mambas, isn't it?

7.2Test matches

If a match starts but is later abandoned for any reason other than weather (which may include but is not limited to: dangerous or unplayable wicket or outfield; pitch vandalism; strike or boycott; crowd protests/violence; stadium damage; acts of terrorism; and acts of God), Betfair reserves the right to void all bets, except for those on markets that have been unconditionally determined.

Is an aftershock classed as an act of God?

Draw lay to back would be the usual play in N.Z but looks like an on/off day with the showers forecast.

I'll be looking to oppose Kiwi's, they have gone to pot since since Baz retired.  Mind you I won't be charging in willy nilly on Pakistan if they're put in on a greentop.

I will want to be with Pak.

Probably back Pak, lay Kiwis at stages.

There's always a tinge of green on NZ wickets. The thing is they don't deteriorate much. I don't expect Pak spinners to have much impact.

Trying to go draw back at 3.1 to lay in the 2s when it rains, to lay as it's a green track, to back as it's NZ so will be flat later, probably to lay again as tests usually get results even with time lost. If I pull it off I'll be sure to tell you all what a pro I am!

Thought it was starting Wednesday!
Yeah, a back to lay for the rain seems the play. Then a lay to back as pitches in NZ often flatten out after a day or so.

Seems like a high scoring ground however the run rate here is high so to me the Draw looks short enough long term, could well get shorter if it rains on day 1 or a team gets 350+

Only 2 previous tests at this ground and the high run rate was due to McCullum(in the main). In the first game he smashed 195 off 134 balls and in the second 145 off just 79 balls.

Santner out injured and Guptil dropped.

NZ don't lose that often at home, and with Boult and Southee fit, I'd favour them over Pak but not by much. OTOH Pak price looks a little big.

Pakistan a better team all round, NZ do not beat Pakistan very often in test matches, a green tinge wicket will help both bowling attacks to which Pakistan's is arguably better !!!

Implied prediction. Some of us understand tense and realise this statement is utter nonsense.

Clearly PXB, you need to do more research or read a little more Blush

New Zealand have not beaten Pakistan in a series since 1985. In 53 Tests between the teams, New Zealand have won just eight matches; Pakistan have won 24.

I think Pakistan are the better side with a good all round attack. NZ depend heavily on Boult and if there is swing Southee but if he is not bowling well they look a little toothless. I know Wagner tries hard and has had some success recently but he is not in my view a top line Test bowler although again seamer friendly condition may assist him.

I think I will be laying the batting side for the first two mornings.

Again I think Pakistan are far too long. Tempted to take a jump on them prior to the toss and take the hit if they bat first.

Any chance overnight rain may delay the start?

I suspect his point is that mostly fairly distant history is not usefully predictive of current results. Bangladesh has beaten one major test nation in its entire history but you'd not expect them to be at 20s if playing Australia at home tomorrow (I'd back them as low as 3.5s, I think).

Agree with WD above and am looking to lay NZ but they're a decent enough side at home and like all the current top test sides, Pakistan has its faults.

A lay of NZ for me, quite a few weather sites have it raining all day which would help, they could also lose the toss, get shoved in and lose quick wickets.  what ever happens i think its quite a safe play.

good luck !

Not great if Pakistan inserted and bowled out for an Aussie type score. I think it's a decent bet under 3s though, even so. I tried for 2.2 a day or two back but missed and am now looking for 2.5

Looks like the whole day may be rained off at this stage. Draw starting to look good to lay though, as 4 days should be about enough for a result...

green wicket & early starts over the next four days makes the draw poor value at 2.5 imo !!!

yeah I agree PTTT. Like I said earlier, I think 4 days should be enough for a result. So trading the draw at this stage but looking to get a lay in at some stage to the conclusion of the game.

Draw always over reacts to pictures of it raining. I was also thinking 2 will be the low.

I have put in my lay the draw at 2.10. backed it just a bit earlier. Christchurch is dire at the moment and when pics come those with only pics hopefully will panic.
