Rain v a tricky pitch. Tricky pitch normally wins unless there is significant rainfall.
A lot of time was lost in the last game and WI still capitulated twice on a decent track. This is dry & grassy with damp patches which you don't see very often anymore. I'm thinking there will be a lot in it for seamers and spinners. Expecting a comfortable India win, especially with them vying for the number one Test spot. Backing India, but covering WI for a zero gain/loss. |

I'm not expecting anything more than a Tstorm. Trinidad too far south for hurricanes or the kind of tropical depression we saw in Jamaica.

Draw at 2.9. Must be a fair amount of weather ramping going on.
By:
I read a quote from the groundsman yesterday saying he had prepared a batsmens wicket but it should spin on days 4 and 5. That coupled with weather ramping is probably the reason for 2.9 on the draw. Anyway i backed it at 3.4 yesterday

Here is that article: http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/82120/indias-tour-of-west-indies-2016-turn-and-bounce-on-offer-says-queens-park-oval-pitch-curator-ronald-faria
The curator clearly ramping saying he doesn't give anything to the bowlers and that he is a batsman's curator. Plus there is an article on cricinfo talking about rain interruptions during the game. I don't see the weather as a threat. Bt clearly the price is reflecting what all these articles are saying. Also, this is more of an India v Pakistan contest, for the number 1 ranking. Conspiracy theorists already saying orders have arrived for the windies to capitulate. Remember its the windies who owed BCCI money and still got 4 tests! I don't see India losing the number 1 rank to Pakistan by failing to win against the 8th ranked side in the world. India back for me. |

Clouds building in from the east so im keeping out at the moment.

The accuweather radar has a major malfunction. That rain has been there in the same spot for at least 12 hours. Must be a glitch that people are betting on!

Cricinfo - It was raining for two days in the build-up to the game, but it's bright and sunny this morning, which means we should have an on-time start.

Problems with the wet outfield i think

Possible 30 mins delay to start according to Ten Sports.
By:
Delayed start but 90 overs still scheduled.
By:
I am ramping the rain and thunderstorms for a draw lay
![]() Big jump onto India after toss and we have seen a few balls bowled! WI are filth |
By:
30 minute delay and Another inspection scheduled 10 mins before the start.

Marlon Samuels is 35, with the best years of a mediocre career behind him.
Harsh really. He's no Lara but then its not like westindies have had great batsmen in the last few years. |
By:
Not sure it is harsh. He is a wonderful batsman on his day. just too few of them. I'd seriously have a Chanderpaul in the side with these youngsters to show them the application and dedication that is required at this level.
Holder needs to be replaced at Test level. Nice young man but not effective yet at Test level |
By:
What im trying to point out is, if Samuels has had a mediocre career, how do you define the careers of other windies batters over the last 10 years, excluding lara and Chanders?
By:
Anyhow, what price you looking for on India, WD?
By:
Can't argue with that. Bravo needs to go too imho. He is a very good batsman who should be doing better and has been given long enough. I guess they have got a lot of problems and too few solutions. Unfair to nail individuals the WICB should shoulder most of the blame.

By:
Windies T20 side will beat their test side easily. That's the problem with Windies cricket. But then they've won 2 world cups as well :)
By:
Not sure what I am doing yet DT
I have a had a good run and dont want to give it back. India wins the Test simples....but...if they lose the toss could they get skittled? Will the rain interrupt? Probably no and no but I think if would be injudicious to lump on India before a shot has been fired in anger but If there was no rain I would be happy to lump on India at 4/5 then go and watch the SA Test and collect my bet on Sunday / Monday ![]() |

By:
There is a case here for dropping Ishant and playing Mishra. I would also bring in Vijay for Dharwan. Bishoo needs to play for WI and I would drop Gabriel seeing as you can't drop Holder
By:
windies bat.
By:
I think India are signalling they want an innings victory!
By:
Jason Holder says West Indies will bat first. "We have full confidence in our batting unit, this Test is important,"
Another reason why Holder should be dropped...quite clearly he is deluded ! |
By:
kumar straight on the money, lets hope he continues where he left off

By:
Raghu: "I think Jadeja's exclusion made one thing pretty clear. India is looking to bat long and bat only once. Once the pitch starts turning, the part-timers in Vijay and Rohit may come in to play if there is any need. Brave Decision from Kohli after all the talk about five-bowler strategy."

Draw 2.7 a few overs into the game. There isn't that much rain around to be honest. The price is wrong.
But everytime I think of laying the draw,, I realize india is the only team that can win this. Then I look at the Ind price and think hmmm, what if it rains. been thinking like that since tuesday. |
By:
Early days DT
I nearly bought some India at 2.04 but maybe lets wait and see |
By:
I am feeling so smug. Backed the draw at 3.4 yesterday just greened up. 6 overs into the match

By:
is that rain i see?
By:
Damn. Should of waited

By:
there was definitely a bit of rain, not much though
shami needs to pitch it up ffs |
By:
If Windies dont lose a wicket and we get a bit of rain, it will be the freeest of the freest lays in the first session of the test. Market has still enough room t panic on rain as we just saw.
By:
Got my draw red a fair bit deeper with a lay at 2.2 as WI batting collapses are too common to wait around. Will take my medicine like a man if the batting grinds it out.
