Generally middling totals and a pitch predicted to spin later point to another India win.

Some showers in the forecast.

Normally I'm wary of dead rubbers involving India as they have a history of letting up when a series is won, but India should be too good and I will just back them.

I'd say becuase WI have to take 20 wickets in 3 days to win and India may only have to bat once to win, that and the fact that WI should be arrested for impersonating Test Cricketers!

I've kind of written this one off but if we manage to get 3 days play then the test is far from over. India will want to get W.I out by tea today to give them 4 good sessions to bat and a 200-250 lead. India will only be looking to bat once but they still might get the option to knock off the last few runs on day 5. Fingers crossed for some play today.

Unfortunately I jumped on India t 4's on Bet365 so really only looking to recoup those losses but this is WI.

Anything can still happen if we get 3 days play. I am hoping for early wicvkets and WI getting rolled over to cover myself on Bet365 and I might let the 1.06 lay ride!

Damage limitation. It was bloody hard work getting it, the real skill though is in keeping it!

Report Foinavon August 21, 2016 12:18 AM BST
The only way to get a contest now would be for both teams to declare an innings. Perhaps sky ought to ask for their money back to encourage them to bring the drainage up to international standards.

Managed to turn this game around and have a reasonable green on all results now. It's a good job really as I've been absolutely rinsed on all other sports in the last few weeks.
I could have easily lost a fortune on this game but I chose to go in heavy on the draw on day 2 at 1.4ish instead of laying it, as I normally would.
Then yesterday I laid the draw at 1.05 & rode it up to 1.18.
This has been a farce though, to be fair. To the point of down right embarrassing.
They can't afford a super sopper but all the groundsmen are driving around in Rolls Royces.
The ICC must take the blame too.
Each series has different tech, different rules, DRS in some and not in others. Surely they can provide each Test match venue with adequate covers and a super sopper or two?
Report Chandigarh August 21, 2016 8:21 AM BST

I've been absolutely taken to the cleaners on this game.  I wouldn't mind so much but I'm taking an almost equally huge shafting on SA NZ, albeit that there's still some residual hope of a result in that one.  Don't think I completely screwed this up either, just a genuinely tough one to call that there would be enough rain on day 1 to kill the entire rest of the test.  I really shouldn't be taking on reds as high as £5.5k, perhaps but I've been trying to swing hard with a bit of thought to premium charge and generally you're rewarded for taking on a big draw red early in a game on a wicket that's anything other than flat. Should have taken some draw at 1.4 or so day 1 or 2 perhaps but having seen WI bat and that the forecast wasn't too bad, I did rather think that even 250 more overs of play would be quite likely to see a result, let alone 300 plus.

Not even any real prospect of a contrived finish, is there?
Report detraveller August 21, 2016 10:17 PM BST
is there any possibility of the game abandoned and bets void? Or it can only end as a 'draw' now?
Report the whizz kids August 21, 2016 10:24 PM BST
7.2Test matches
If a match starts but is later abandoned for any reason other than weather (which may include but is not limited to: dangerous or unplayable wicket or outfield; pitch vandalism; strike or boycott; crowd protests/violence; stadium damage; acts of terrorism; and acts of God), Betfair reserves the right to void all bets, except for those on markets that have been unconditionally determined.
If the match is not scheduled to be completed within five days after the original scheduled completion date, then all bets on markets for this event will be void, except for bets on any markets that have been unconditionally determined.

F*ck me Fats, this has not been a good weekend for you you mate and feeling for you. Very unlucky in this day and age to be caught out by 1 bad outfield but 2 at the same time is unreal. I've done my nuts on this one but luckily I had 2 green on Saffers and woke up just in time this morning to transfer it on to the draw at around Evs. With a bit of luck they abandon this match due to dangerous outfield (that's i'm reading the rules right?) and can get some money back.??
Report detraveller August 21, 2016 11:01 PM BST
Since 2004, the International Cricket Council for International matches has decreed that a match where the toss takes place but which is abandoned without a ball being bowled is either a draw or (for a limited-overs match) a no result.

Done my dough on both games (wiped out c.35% of my 2016 bank) but don't think the bets should be voided. However heads need to roll here as far as the decision makers are concerned, because to lose what will probably amount to 5 or 6 days cricket after one big thundery shower and one spell of heavy rain is absolutely mental in this days and age. We all know nothing can prevent weather occurring, but there are plenty of things that can and must be done to mitigate the impacts of it....and there weren't.  Therefore someone has to be held accountable, starting with the div that suggested a winter test in Durban was a good idea when most venues on the high veld are guaranteed dry at this time of year, then the clown who thought full ground covers were not needed on a tropical island known for the intensity of it's late summer downpours....they can then get to the rest after those two twats have been made to face the music!
Report Whisperingdeath August 22, 2016 2:13 PM BST
I don't like the bit where they Betfair has the right to void all bets! kin ridiculous! Too many bookies have links to the House of Commons!

No bookie should have the right to ban you until you have at least won twice as much money that you have previously lost or staked with them! Why can they only take money from losers? Do they limit their bets to £1.24? wrong wrong wrong!
Report VardonVoo. August 22, 2016 2:21 PM BST
@ Whizz - The trouble with saying you trade gold/oil etc is that nobody knows any pro-gamblers (though they might possibly claim to know an ordinary Joe who got lucky with a few quid on Leicester at 5000-1 and bought a house) but people always seem to know someone who works in finance who makes millions and makes you look like a small-fry tw@t with your Wetherspoon's mates and Lidl shopping bill. They never seem to appreciate the heroic difference between a job where someone creams off a percentage of managed wealthy clients' money compared to actually risking your own meagre cash and living or dying by the sword on a daily basis. They just think you're a smart@rse  who thinks he's above doing 'real' work but wonder why you're not driving a flash car and splashing out on coke and ****s (as opposed to splashing out all over your keyboard at free web-cam girls at 3am).

@ Chandigarh - you said on the SA vs NZ thread that you got 10k on the draw at 1.92 the other day - at the time you posted the draw on here was priced at about 2.4 (I think) and had never yet been below 2.2, which suggests the Indian bookies don't mind you winning cos the law stops you (the ordinary punter) from getting a fair market price but gives them the opportunity to somehow channel the funds through the exchanges at higher odds for a guaranteed profit. If you're still able to profit from gambling with that kind of edge against you then I take my hat off to you.
