It looks almost mud toward the boundary. Can't see them playing with that on the field. Could bring the rope in, but probably some complex rule about that and it makes it unfair to one side anyway.

All in all, We will lose quite alot of overs I think, and with the outfield looking damaged, I wonder if we will get any more play today.

You can't change the boundaries once a ball has been bowled.

Not good news I'm afraid. 65mm of rain fell overnight. The umpires will inspect the field at 12 so no play before then. #sscricket #savnz

Maybe it's dead-cat bounce - time to bring out the cat-litter and helicopters.

but Firdose informs me that 'it rained all night - started around 8pm and stopped by 6am. A lot of it was hard rain too.'

Thats the strange thing, draw was drifting all this time, even tho it was raining very hard

Dont really want to lay off because there's a chance of no play today and if that happens, draw could be around 1.6

9.20am In fact, it had rained so hard last night that an inspection for 12pm has been scheduled. So, there goes the first session of play today.

I reckon they will get 160 overs in max. Hard to get a result from that amount of overs

Yeah, have to factor in the early finishes, no chance of full day play

Update: umps have confirmed that there'll be no play before 12 - which is when the next pitch inspection is. 65mm of rain fell overnight!
