Last time went to India we had Monty and Swann. Monty wasn't selected first match. One nil down.
From then on it was a procession. 2-1 England. Monty not only outbowled the Indians, he outbowled Swann! Rasher and Mo will not have the same impact. |

Very very good point Injera. Could never understand why he was not picked for the last game.
I would imagine that Eng will test him against the Banglas on more suited conditions. |

What gives with Draw price at 11? Expected it to be in the 20's at least.

This performance so far has been so un-Pakistan. But if they win this, 2-2 probably a fair scoreline. Pakistan already ranked third and they could end up second on the list surely?
|
|

If Pak win this, And India dont win the next test, Pak are number 1. Else India. Im pretty sure their will be a social media war between the two countries for the coming few days.

This has been a great test for me. Backed the draw on day 2 at 9s and laid at 3.3.
Then laid England big yesterday before play at 2.3ish. Never even had to touch that trade. ![]() |

Shah has blown hot and cold in this series.
I'm expecting runs from the rest of England's batting, but enough to trouble Pak batting last seems unlikely. But we have all seen Pak implode before. |
|
By:
Yeh I will green up this morning and then lay Pak.
They only have 4 bowlers & Eng have some quality late order batsmen. The Bastard, The Saviour and The "guy who keeps messing with his hair after every feckin ball he bowls" can all bat. I can see England putting on another 300, leaving Pak chasing 175 or so. |
|
By:
I was thinking more like another 200, but you could well be right with 300, which would bring the draw into play.
|
|
By:
Same here. Im expecting England to score runs(or Pakistan to leak runs) but have backed the draw instead of laying Pakistan.

I think Shah will rip through England after the efeect of the foller wars off. He has looked ordinary and I know he is not a big spinner of the ball but in the right conditions and circumstances he is very effective. I am not going to bother to lay off.
The only bet worth considering for me is a Hail Mary on England around 18 as they have the batsmen to do something extraordinary. This cannot be a draw. Should the draw go sub 1.1 I really oughta clear my red for £20 ! yes yes played a blinder while praying in the Carribean! Not really been watching the game save for some of Younis Masterclass! |

Erm let me say that again properly!

All I need is for England to come down to 6-7 and I can lay off my huge green on them.

Pakistan's independance day today. They'll be celebrating like crazy if they win today. I would love to se them win. But tomorrow plz. :D

|
By:
What's the ticket price for today and tomorrow? Does anyone know?

Nice to hear all doing well. I'm having a monster too: load of draw backs that turned out well. Nice thing about the back the draw after wicket on good track approach is that if the game runs away from your lay back there's plenty of chance to see it again. I was all green before Shafiq was out then got sucked in to a whole series of draw backs as wickets fell but that turned out just fine.

pakistan will throw this away

Hmm, had to accept some 1.29 too but sitting fairly pretty. Sure I'll find a way to relieve myself of some more profit but can hardly complain about the last few tests having got out of a very deep hole in the last Eng Pak test and a hole so deep it really ought to be described as a chasm in the WI India test.

That is so loose.

very poor shot there ballance

|
By:
another place to fill in the team

|
By:
gavin ballance not a good test batsman
|
|
By:
plenty of talent in english domestic set up that could fill in the number 6 spot

Barry Ballance you muncher of the kok variety

as if that wasn't already a known.
increasingly i'm becoming more and more annoyed with vince batting at 4. it's not where you blood shotmakers in a side and he has no business going in front of ballance who with his reselection should be given more responsibility. it actually becomes almost impossible for a shotmaker to rein it in when he's chasing a score and he's been in that place since the middle of the summer. he should have been allowed to chance to bat much lower 6 or 7 and score some cheaper runs and then gradually moved up. Our most accomplished stroke makers, Vaughan, KP and Bell, all started lower and surely with good reason. |
|
By:
ballance threw it away again he another ramprakash
|
|
By:
not even close to being as good as ramprakash.
ramprakash was a better shot maker, and had to face proper bowling in every match he played. |
|
By:
ali has the be the best world number 7 batsman in world cricket currently, he is a natural shot maker like saeed anwar
|
|
By:
Ramp's came in when there were some serious bowlers about. He got obsessed with technique and being overly self critical.
In his latter years when he started to enjoy batting and took off the shackles, he averaged over 100 for a few years in a row! |
|
By:
Ian Bell should still be in the team
|
|
By:
yep anxious.
beginning of the summer with everyone fit: Cook, Hales, Bell, Root, Stokes, Bairstow, Vince, Ali, Woakes, Broad, Anderson is the XI |
|
By:
To my mind it doesn't matter where a proper batsmen plays from 1 to 6 or 7 - if you have a technique which is inadequate you will quickly be found out at test level
The game has changed but the basic ploy of the likes of Boycott to restrict chances to the opposition even if it means limiting your scoring potential is still the best - preserve your wicket as test matches over 5 days will still present time & opportunity to score runs when bowlers tire |
|
By:
unlike ballance, i'm not convinced vince's issue is technique. mental discipline seems to be the issue - you're not learning that in division 2, but it can be developed in test cricket.
but i maintain, if you're chasing a score, it's impossible. you will fail. he needed to be give a chance when it was a bit easier. |
