Met Office models only run 4 times a day. Updates at other times are probably based on some muppet looking at the radar.

Still a good chance of losing a few hours today. I gave rain showers from 12 onwards, through til 5. And my longer range stuff still looking at 50% or more for sat/sun...

You could be right about about Saturday. Looks a forecast that could change for the worse.

Bright and sunny at the moment with a lot of cloud around.
Cold but very light wind.
Should be  good day.

more a chance of losing a few minutes today, which would be made up at the end of the day, showers few and far between today is forecast and absolutly no rain forecast for any other day, but there will be cloud around for alot of the game.

think that was a toss england desperately needed to win

England need early wickets, if the Australians get to lunch 0-2 down, I reckon they will be in charge, but if England could knock 3/4 over on a ground they do well on, it will open the match up very nicely.

trouble is even if they were to knock oz over for 300 and get some sort of lead the advantage between batting 3rd and 4th is much bigger than a small lead might provide

I am laying the Aussies at 1.87.  Cant see that price getting too skinny after day 1.  Even if they are 340-2 at the end of the day, it will mean 1.63 and only 24 basis points difference.  If Eng can get a few early Aus will be 2.4+

runs = Aus/Draw shorten at expense of eng price
wkts = Eng shorten at expense of draw (Aus neutral).

Aus only goes longer on a collapse (sub 250-275).

you don't lay the batting team (or the stronger team) in result conditions.  And if it's not result conditions you back the draw (to lay or to leave depending on your view).

if you're scared the draw is a player then you wait.  but no real upside laying Aus today (just like you point out there's limited downside).
