I think it is a real shame Sharma is not playing. I think Jadeja is not needed here.
India need to conserve their wickets and hope the sun browns this pitch out soon! Increased my speculative lay of England from small to ouch! Was looking like a genius till that wicket! England could have India all out tonight and have the best two days batting if they would just bowl full and straight. I just don't understand why they bowl so wide generally! |

Does anyone know if Rahane can open? He is like Captain Co ck at the moment, a walking wicket! Pujara is like an opener.
Rahane is a fine player but looked decidedly dodge at Nottingham. I hope he bats well here as when playing fluently he is a joy to watch. Must be highly thought of to keep Sharma out. I am not liking this Dhoni-Jadeja CSK link up |

problem with rohit is that he has been given numerous chances and yet still failed to make a spot his own in this lineup. Rahane did start his career as an opener and had a fine domestic record. Can't see them dropping Dhawan though just yet.
Pujara is the perfect number 3 - wouldn't move him. Best test player in this side. |

Yes I like Dharwan but I think he as at sea right now. I wanted to see Rahane in the side but also Sharma. Vijay has shown the application required a solid and sound player but does not excite me like Dharwan but I have to hold my hand up and say Dharwan is baggage at the moment. He has a big chance second innings to retain his place as this wicket is going to be a belter. I have a feeling for the draw should India manage to get past 250. 300 and it is naailed on for me. England will bat Friday and Saturday, India Sunday and Monday morning game over. Well that is mt forecast depending how well England bowl this afternoon. If they bowl short and wide like this morning I will sleep easy with my lay at close to evens!

Pitch is offering plenty. If anything I think the wickets are ensuring that the game moves ahead. Be interesting to see what India can get to. Current runline around 275.

something really has to be done about players coming into the game not fully fit, bowling a few overs and the going off the field for a massage etc..as has been suggested many times, stop them having a substitute fielder for 30 mins...as usual the authorities are too slow / scared / reactionary to do anything

Oh dear, here we go again. Laid India to get 300 at 1.65 and only now am I having doubts about baling out. The average stand for the tenth wicket in this series of 100+ is a bit worrying. England have looked incapable of bowling well for more than 4 hours a day this year. If it drags on to stumps I just hope they can come out and finish them in the morning.
