50+ last wicket partnership for India. Cook will be out for six playing on to a ball that wasn't wide enough to cut and kept low. So predictable.

The lack of a quality fronltine spinner will cost england. Anderson and Broad have no chance of playing 5 tests with their current workload.

Broad needs a holiday or something, painfully lethargic against Sri Lanka, even slower here. Might be ill.

rain is moving out of the weather forecast slowly. It may start to be more about the pitch soon.  market is going to change again I think

dont the quicks pop a bouncer or 2, a few balls aimed at the ribs, then quick and straight anymore to the number 11?

Mind you it is going to be difficult to get people out still don't forget 5 of India's wickets have been bad batting.

I have no position as yet. I am massively tempted to back india here, however i think i'd be hoping for a pitch detoriation. It looks a rather placid pitch.

Whispering - Englands batting has been woefully bad for a long period of time now. They are going to be batting last to save the test here imo.

that is the big question Junior, how will it play?  India look big still.  I am convinced the draw will move out again, don't know when though

It's just painfully slow, it needs to start and get a little bit more variable in it's bounce, and then i can see a result. Jadeja will be key imo.

I am with you guys re batting last but saving a game is different from trying to win it.  Playing not to get out is easier than trying to score runs.  Then there is the weather but the forecast's have been getting better all match.  I am heavy on India, neutral almsot England but big red on the draw.

Groundsman gets the dreaded "vote of confidence" on the Beeb

Chief executive Lisa Pursehouse admitted head groundsman Steve Birks might have made an error in his pitch preparation - a point conceded by Birks himself on Nottinghamshire's website  - but insisted judgement on the pitch should be reserved until later in the match, and promised an "inquest" would be held if the game petered out to a draw.
"We've got a good track record for result pitches and that's what we are looking to achieve," she added on Test Match Special.
"This is a really important time for Steve. He's an excellent groundsman and, if he has made a mistake, could we wait until at least two days before we decide that?
"Steve is the expert here and he hopes it will dry out and be a little bit different. Let's just see if that's the case."
