Stokes and Panesar for Trott and Tremlett would be a bold statement of intent for England. If the strip is going to be sufficiently slow maybe England would have no use for Finn this time. It could also unduly rebalance the weighting of this match to the last two days assuming the England batsmen don't run up the white flag again.
I prefviously favoured Finn but maybe Panesar could again play the joker. It would also strengthen our batting . We all remember how easy Anderson and Monty play Aussie bowling when batting in tandem! |

pxb, i'd say no way england england would be happy with a draw in adelaide. realistically they have to win. on all known form they'll lose in perth. only way they won't is if england shoot oz for out a lower score than we make. hard to see england making more than about 500 over both innings there
best chance for england is to go into melbourne and sydney 2-1 down and give oz a chance to bottle it cos the chances are they will if the pressure is applied |

England have to go with positive intent to win the game in Adelaide - agree with the previous posters - play Panesar & Swann and hope the batting holds up to post a competitive total; at least attempt to play the Aussies at their own game and be aggressive' I would sooner lose a close game than close shop to try and grind out a draw which will be pointless in view of the Perth test following immediately where we will be under the cosh with and out pace the order of the day

they need to try to get back on the front foot, but a battling draw often raises spirits if a win is impossible,

To the English team - Ignore Alice Springs; it means nothing in terms of Test cricket. Adelaide beckons, the Aussie top six are still as brittle as glass flowers. Get in there, play with a straight bat, take your time to settle. Don't worry about Mitch; he will lose his radar sooner rather than later. To quote William S. "Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, disguise fair nature with hard-favored rage, then lend the eye a terrible aspect," None of that "scared eyes" sh1t, it is unworthy and only serves to encourage the enemy.

Last two tests between Eng/Aus at Adelaide have been won by side batting second - bat first and win/draw at worst is a lazy assumption.

I see that the weather forecast for Thursday has changed. Now predicting a few morning showers, which will in all likelihood be gone by start of play. The other four days fine, except for a possible light shower on Sunday.

First Session runs: I have it as Under 85.5 Runs V Over 85.5 Runs @ even money. In the last 15 morning sessions there has been an average of 88.87 runs in the morning session

^^^^^^^^^^If Australia Bat, id take the Overs. If England bat first, Id take the unders. Can see England wanting to play a bit more cautiously especially with the Top 3 (new batsman taking the 'engineering' role in the batting line up....possibly Bell who is a defensive starter anyway)

Nervous smiles and false bravado a plenty from Aus. I got a feeling someone will be bowling to the left and to the right. If the pitch is dry I hope they play Panesar. England should go for the win. Aussie won't be lucky two tests in a row. If Aus don't pick Faulkener they may have problems after Lyon and Smith are hit out of the attack, the workload will be too much for Harris who might break down and when MJ's radar goes the realisation will be that maybe they should have kept quiet a bit. One swallow does not make a summer! Looking forward to the combat! |

I still like this england price but i am going to have internet access for the next five days.
There's only really one scenario where you going to get any substantial shortening of the England price on Day one and that's if they have to bowl first and have success. Should they bat first and bat well, Australia will lengthen feeding the draw with England perhaps drifting gently down. Should they bat first and bat badly, naturally their price will puke, and should the convict scum bat first and bat well England will puke leaving a draw/convict win shoot out. So, i humbly withdraw my prematch England position until the toss and pitch conditions are no longer unknowns. |

I doubt we will lose any overs to rain. At most a couple of brief interruptions which are made up.
I think it is expectations for a flat pitch which has made the draw so short. |
