RE THE BALL

I agree with Mikey...often wonder when i see bowlers these days running their hands through their hair repeatedly

Can something be happening with that or am i way off...

lol.  Of course it can.  Hair products, sweat.  They used to use vaseline or something didn't they?

even if you don't have " product " in your hair they take the moisture from it.

So short haired bowler is possibly at a disadvantage to one with long thick black hair Laughfor example..

I've done pretty badly at the start of this game -- backed England before the toss, now I am decent green on the draw but big reds on Eng and Aus.

Just hoping both sides can bat this game to death now...

England might have to.

no not really because short hair allows more sun to the scalp heats the brain, the moisture comes from the scalp so long hair is a disadvantage but they take it from the forehead and temples!

Fred,

Does your Brylcream come in a tube like gel or is it the original in a red tub and looks like thick white emulsion paint?

Mine was advertised by Dennis Compton not David Beckham!

This has been an odd series. The most two-sided one-sided contest I can recall in probably any sport.

Pecker,

The shine on the ball seams like a red herring.  I used to shine it like crazy but it would appear the movement is caused by disparity in weight as opposed to a smooth side and a rough side.

Although we shine one side the cumulative sweat on the shiny side adds to the disparity in weight as the other side is deprived of moisture.

So rather than product or vaseline the globules of sweat found around the temples, forehead and neck are the x factor adding weight.

At least that is what I think.  I don't have any statistics to back me up on thatLaugh

Darlo,

Kirkland Laing v Colin Jones ( twice )

Except it was the most one sided two sided contest.  Krikland Laing gave Colin Jones a boxing lesson for 9 rounds in each fight and got knocked out by single counter punches in each fight!

Yes interesting stuff this swinging ball theories.

I have played other field sports and seen weight disparity occur.

And snooker has the kick phenon.

dza,

Got a feeling you might be alright old son.  England might get the ball to reverse late afternoon.  Got no stats to back it up, just a hunch.  It will be ironic if Aus bat last againLaugh
