generally win 1-0 or 2-0 when they do win, so i don't expect them to come out and blow villa away. if villa nick a goal it will be very difficult, and 0-0 at HT means 1.9, 60 minutes 2.4. hopefully an easy trade.

fair enough. I wouldn't hold out too much hope for the chelsea lay, though, and think arsenal's problems are a bit overstated.

Be careful what you say about Broady. His father is called Darth Vader and his brother is called Luke!

Hate the wainkers! My first FA Cup final was Leeds v Chelsea 1970. I started to support Leeds. It was the first time I cried over a sporting occasion.....but not the last! ![]() |

rich b'stard banksters in the OCS balcony! Not even watching the cricket!
I could only get a ticket in OCS 2, Harleyford Road just behind square! Mind you it has always been an ambition of mine to get trashed in the Harleyford Road stand. Might as well as i won't be able to see any cricket from there! |

Like the write up Both teams will be in good spirits ahead of this clash and goals are to be expected. I'm yet to be convinced by Gary Cahill as a top-quality centre-half and Villa brute Christian Benteke has the muscle to get some joy out of Cahill's weaknesses. Chelsea will score, that's pretty certain, but Villa are an attacking outfit on the road, highlighted by the fact they were the seventh top scorers away from home in the Premier League last season. A high-scoring draw should not be ruled out.

I have to say El Presidente,
i am a bit jacked off. they do not allow you to bring in ANY booze. I shall be at the pub at 9am to make up for it and will even pop out at lunch as my protest. Am taking a pukka lunch and will not spend a penny at the ground. Was even going to buy some Ribena to put my wine in, just a shame to waste the ribena! |

Draw does seem unlikely. Historically, you'd get an end of day 1 score at the Oval of around 300-odd for 4 or 5 & in such a scenario what price the draw at the end of today?
Asparagus Man 21 Aug 13 09:39 Eng 300-4 draw about 3.2 Aus 300-4 draw about 2.3 Take a bow, AM |

I refuse to be buggered by these people. Football fans accept it generally because they are stupid but cricket fans are more discerning. Trouble is supply and demand at cricket allows the Powers that be to get away with it. I'm not having it! As it was the 5th day ticket was only £32 but it is the principle. But really what will I be able to see just behind square? I might as well get trolleyed. Just want to be there at the finish.. The rain won't save Aus this time! |

england must be a safe lay from this position.

Have placed first bet on match...laid the Aussies at 2.5. My plan is that England bowl them out before lunch for a total of around 400 and then bat through to the end of the third day for around the same score. Expect the Aussie 2nd innings to struggle and not exceed 250 leaving England with an opportunity to go for the win or to bat safely for the draw.

5/4 the draw with 4 days left, few weather worries (bad light/a shower today? although it's clearing up now), and a dead rubber, and the way these two teams typically bat, and laying the draw is standard at this stage.
Yes it's a featherbed - has to be if the mong can nearly get two hundred - but he was dropped on 100 and had a marginal lbw overturned (and was gifted a lot of runs from our new spinner) - and he's still contributed well over half the Aussie runs. If that catch is held, aus finish last night closer to 300/7 maybe. The fact that they didn't catch him hasn't held up proceedings to such an extent that the draw is now nearly an even money shot. I thought the pitch did a bit for both new balls and Eng were unlucky not to take two or three early wkts and not to take two or three late on. Spin has to come more into the game as we progress. Yes, it might be a draw but even if we got three slow days from here I could easily see Clarke throwing the dice and setting a racey 290 in 80 overs. Eng would have to threaten that at a shade over 3.5/over. Hard to see how the draw only trades lower than its current price. |
