Anyway back to this one. Is the draw a lay here? I can't decide. On the one hand four days should be enough for India to win against a weak Aussie side but the pitch has been benign in the past with 5 draws out of 10 games. Any thoughts? I might wait until we are a session through tomorrow and hopefully by then we'll have more idea even if the draw has moved out a lot.

I might be drawn to backing India and maybe laying them at the end of the day if they win the toss. I can't really see Convicts having much chance to dismiss India twice without Pattinson to rough them up so would rather go for India than lay the draw. 5/2 against 7/4. The pitch is likely to be dry and short of grass. Of course if Aus win the toss and bat well India might lengthen and draw will shorten even further.
That is my view on the game I wonder what you professional traders think of the chance to make money and how would you do it? Nick, Ernesto was always missing Jamaica but was likely to bring a lot of rain with it and did in the afternoon. It was a nailed on result with a full days play. I was following it for days and thought there was a good but outside chance of making a killing. It was just like playing with the House funds for me and to be fair to me if NZ hadn't batted so poorly in their 4th innings I would would probably now be the proud owner of a caravan next to Morse's in Southern Spain! |

Hi Nigel weather looks clear for 4 days and with early starts and india bowlers getting 95 overs a day draw seems a fair lay as Aus must win to keep series alive

Yes with time made up with early starts and indian spiners probably only lose half a day max

they say everything reverts to the mean eventually but never in my days of viewing professional sport have I seen a team scale the dizzy heights above the mean (1999 to 2006) to so far below the mean (present). That batting order I have just observed would have even MCJN reaching for a reality check.

Agreed Jon. We really ought to beat this lot 5 nil, weather permitting. Don't think it will happen though.
They have some talent coming through in the quick bowling department but that's about it. |

Got a huge red on the draw here(I thought they would lose a session not a day to he rain) I've layed at 2.7 and 2.16 Would you A. Take the red on the chin and get out just in case Oz bat and are 300/2 at close and the draw is even shorter B. sit tight and hope either side loses lots of early wickets and be in a position to get out C. Be aggressive and lay the draw again now at 1.58 Thanks |

I have absolutely no faith in Australia's chances, however, if they win the toss and bat well the price would obviously come in and give you a chance to lay back. If India win the toss and don't lose early wickets then your money might be cooked. It's a fair gamble I suppose but back to a coin toss.
I am going to have to wait. Did anyone take up the cudgels at 15? |

Take an equal red. I had a similar dilemma in the last test and ended up hanging onto the draw lay and regretting it.
Could be different this time but I always think if unsure (i.e. coin toss) equal out. |

It would be a four figure all round red which is why I'm hesitant, better though I agree than the monster I've got on the draw.

I've managed the rain well in other matches until this with no losses. I just got it into my head that the forecasts were ok and the game would loose a couple of hours in the morning

5 days is a long time in test cricket especially with oz in disarray.England lost here few years back after only 60 overs bowled in first 2 days.

Australia batsman are due some runs, and with time lost in match bowlers might try to hard to pick up wickets

Australia win the toss and will bat. No Turbinator in this match which will strengthen the Indians even further i think. Some big wraps on Ojha

yEP iNDIA WILL HAVE A STRONG CHANCE TO WIN THIS IF NO MORE TIME IS LOST FOR BAD WEATHER. They make up the 1st days lost play with extra overs for the remainder of the test match. Aus done themselves no favours after the opening stand losing wickets regularly and a run rate of 2.62 on an indian wicket is not up to scratch.

Definitely more chance of the draw now.
Will likely be close to end of day 4 if AUS knocked out for 300 and India bat to 500. They then have three and a bit sessions to bowl out AUS and restrict them to less than a couple of hundred runs. Do-able but happy to be small red on India and decent green on draw. |

thanks nigelpm you got the weather correct on day 1 big help to green. haved trouble sometimes with weather reports in asia.
