i think you'll find the forecast tomorrow is the worst
By:
Of course SA can win. It's not a 3 day game!
I'm hoping for 400+ and then SA 50-1. Then it'll be time to lay the draw. |

Looking at it logically, ENG price is pretty much where it was at the start of play but they have 267 runs on the board with the loss of merely three wickets. Would expect ENG to move in and draw move out
By:
england will bost 450+ that for me is enoguh for england to avoid defeat
By:
england 450 and 300/6 dec
saffers 350 and 250 something along those lines looks on the cards. england well in charge. a big ask for a rusty saffer side to escape with a draw here |
By:
I agree with Mafeking , England look set for the win
only prolonged rain can create the draw 240 ish overs to bowl saffers out twice and with pitch already turning on day one swann could be the match winner on day 5 will be interesting to see howany england post and whether they try to accelerate once they get to 430 ish |
By:
SA bowling was awful today, I doubt very much the pitch will look quite so innocuous when england bowl. You could make a case for all three wickets being gifts and I'm struggling to remember more than half a dozen threatening balls. It helps if you bowl at the wickets occasionally.
By:
SA look well undercooked for me. Think England win this comfortably but then expect a bit of a reaction in the second test.
By:
Happily the draw price is edging down again, I never want to see a Scalping Gone Wrong!

Hello to all you twunts who weren't at the Oval today
![]() Four more days of England dominance, please. They were APPALLING today. Me and my dog would have bowled better than that. We'd certainly have shown more hunger. SHAME ON THE THIRD-BEST TEST TEAM IN THE WORLD. |

engerland are gonna win
By:
England still not out of the woods yet
another overcast morning and SA have the new ball and a point to prove anything under 400 on this track would be a good result for SA still england in a very dominant position |
By:
Weather what concerns me with englands chances. i dont want to lose 40 overs worth or so play today. Still england in the driving seat, would like at least 450 though.
By:
Has Morse said that the draw is a cert yet?
By:
Is it raining or is rain on the way? Draw down 10 ticks overnight.
By:
the forecast isn't great for today
By:
Any play this morning will force the draw out from 1.70, it is quite overcast at the moment at the ground but def would start in this. light rain expected around lunchtime. I am a patient draw layer, as I expect Sat and Sun to be fine and the pitch to show its irregularities...cant see how people say this is a flat belter, only the new ball went through to the keeper and there was at least half dozen moments of the ball not bouncing at all. Swanny to take out the lefties on day 4...job done!

South Africa's bowling has been a bit baffling really.
Playing against Cook and (for the most part) Trott there isn't much point bowling wide of the stumps. It eventually got Trott who took a surprising swing at a ball he'd normally leave but Cook very rarely gives a passing glance to such balls. Sure Cook plays well off of his pads but then with some varied length balls at him you have much more chance of getting him than playing wide. When England come out they will be bowling at the stumps and making the South Africans play. It will invariably produce wickets. |
By:
Always expected the draw to shorten overnight, although the forecast hasnt helped. Still fancy england to get SA cheaply in one of their innings.
By:
If I was a draw layer, (which I'm not) I wouldnt be overly concerned about losing a few overs today. I still expect England to put up a big score and have 2 and a half or three days to bowl SA out twice. The pitch will be doing all sorts by day 4.
By:
morning all - it has been raining most of the morning here in london, looks to have cleared up for now, but very gloomy. Expect play, however, may lose some overs... not 40 odd imo...
By:
I mean we wont lose 40+ overs, not that there wont be 40 odd overs... just thought I would clarify in case someone misunderstands
By:
Plenty of time to make up today - could play until 7.30pm tonight. Forecast looks very solid for next 3 days so 98 over days in order.

anyone think englsnd rsck up 500?
By:
i think eng sccored 400-425
By:
Weather report looks better than anticipated. Hopeful for plenty of play today. England will bowl better than undercooked saffers, I knew they would be. It's flat we know that but they have bowled poorly.

dstyle.. what i dont get is why wouldnt u just back england? SA cannot win from here... cant be done. you're right. |
By:
big session coming up
new ball and overcast coniditions, the saffers will have to fancy getting an early one and getting Bopara in |
By:
It was flat there last year and India couldn't cope with our attack. Don't see why it'll be any different with SA. Plus, this will be turning sideways on last day.
By:
England will be pretty disappointed to get less than 470+ from here and from the look of the pitch that could be good enough.
Out of interest, did anybody see a spread for first innings runs supremacy yesterday? |
By:
d13 .yes your right..
By:
i have no doubt that england won yesterday kingmax
but test cricket can change in half an hour suddenly england could get bowled out for 350 and SA could get 150-2 by close thats why this session is the key your right if Cook gets going again then England are in pole position but they arent yet because of the slow scoring yesterday |
By:
first session will be all important, if England add 80 runs without losing a wicket they will be set to crush the bowling in the afternoon
on the other hand lose a couple of wickets and it all changes fascinating and why we watch test cicket |
By:
iv had 50 on sa for SA for sn hour
