there were similar cases before but when there was no rain expected

I think the follow on should be required - also all betting patterns in Asian should be watched by a dedicated person and anything odd picked up

makes me want to leave betting on cricket - just too risky

you can't force teams to take the follow on, it's their well earned advantage to have the right to choose

teams batting 4th have got a pretty horrendous record chasing any total in Galle so i suppose you could argue that sl would not even want to be chasing a target of 80+ in the 4th innings against this pak attack on this pitch.

That said it is still a completely retarded decision. could rain all day tomorrow leaving sl just one day to knock over pakistan, baffling captaincy given the fact they had pakistan down and out. Probably deserve to not get over the line here, but it's still unlikely to cost them.

Ten Cricket informs us this is only the fifth time that a side has not enforced a follow-on after having a lead of 350

true dougy - there's some logic in tiring out PAK as well I guess

will be bizarre watching the market on wickets here - would expect SL to shorten!

When: 24 Jun 12 08:59
no bet for me - too much like gambling until it's started but I'd favour WI - all depends on Gayle IMHO - if he hammers the sixes ENG have no chance

PS - apologies for the earlier rants - my emotions got over-heated!

so what's the betting here on declaration.  I'd want PAK to face at least 10 overs late on.

just got up ...cant believe sri lanka didn't enforce ??
especially with a first innings lead of 372 Grin
I know they wouldn't want to chase anything batting last here , but Pakistan weren't getting anything over 372 ??
innings defeat thrown away ...
now they have the dilemma of when to declare and the added danger that rain could delay their push for victory ...like dough says ,probably will win anyway , but as a lanka backer it's a crazy decision  Crazy

their batting at least is like they are playing a 50 over match

other argument being trotted out is it's good for the crowd/gate receipts - which is definitely true

In a sanely run cricket world, ie without the BCCI, this test would surely be the final nail in the anti-DRS coffin? Pakistan getting royally skrewed at the moment.

Also there should be a disciplinary procedure whereby if it can be clearly proved a batsman didn't walk he when he should have, as Dilshan has just done, (& made out he didn't hit it to the fielders!) is banned for the next game.

must have been 10 bad howlers in this test so far, anyone who thinks the game is better without DRs just needs to watch a video of Goulds performance in this match

When: 24 Jun 12 09:38
agreed dougy - some utterly shocking decisions.  is there a list of where DRS is in use?
By:
dougydougy.
When: 24 Jun 12 09:42
There were rumours before today rock that pakistan would join India and possibly SL and bangladesh and vote against making DRS mandetory in all tests at the ICC meeting. I can not after this test match see how they could possibly vote against it now.

what sort of total do we think sri lanka will declare this innings ??
or will it be a matter of whatever they have at a certain time >?
By:
nigelpm1
When: 24 Jun 12 09:47
i reckon they'll want to put PAK in for 10 overs at the end of the day so my guess would be they play another 25 minimum.  somewhere around 200 runs.

another port decision , but dilshan should have gone when he gloved it just now , so justice done ...umps having a mare though

When: 24 Jun 12 09:51
lankas RR will suffer without dilshan there , still mad that they didn't enforce, would be most likely 1.01ish by now

The old monkey with red button green button decision making process might have done a better job than Messrs Gould and Davis in this match
