I love test cricket. Out with decent green before a ball is bowled. Laid ENG at 2.18 yesterday decided not to be greedy and greened out today. GL all those with open positions
By:
if as expected we lose all tomorrow chances of a result are helped by the fact that the follow on gets reduced to 150 which could be signicant should england lose the toss and get sent in
By:
book as of now
eng - £310 WI - £87 Draw + 345 am i being to greedy let it ride.. |
By:
yeah maf. what price eng with 400 AO on the board by close on saturday with 2 days to bowl out windies twice? market wont like us much but very fair chance of taking 10 windies wkts per day in good bowling conditions in a dead rubber
By:
should go quite a bit lower if tomorrow's forecast is as dire as expected. i'd have a look at the forecast tomorrow afternoon before deciding whether to take some profit or let it run

Lix - I don't see England bowling out WI in two days - odds would perhaps be similar to where they are now.
By:
King - would be tempted to stick £50 on ENG at this point to level it slightly.

Ok weather dont look great whole test but seems 2nd half of test forecast little better than first.
Far better that way for chances of result in terms of approach and sort of total england might look for if say batting 2nd |
By:
last 4 opposition innings here are 72, 296, 224 and 224
england could easily run through the west indies in no doubt freezing and bowler friendly conditions |

if say 8-9 sessions possible then if most at back end far better chance of result than majority in first 3 days and england stacking up 450+ and wasting crucial time when might dec for 300-6 on day 4 if early days washed out
By:
Day one - washout
Day two - Windies 30-2 Day three - Windies 174 all out, England 184-4 Day four - England 328 all out, Windies 18-1 Day five - Windies 148 all out England win by an innings and six runs |
By:
All done in around 210 overs
By:
you certainly wouldn't wanna be on the draw at a short price when the west indies are batting. would always fancy your chances of knocking them over in 2 sessions
By:
england won quite a few tests in 3 days in past few years and tbf plenty could have been nearer two days if england hadnt had 5 days to win them. ie- feel the need to score 500+ despite knocking oppo over either side in 100 overs for agg of about 260-290 runs
By:
agree that the draw will prob go sub 1.2 with a washout but aint my style taking 1/2 here this evening (even if I didnt havet lots from 9/4 down). Radar looking grim early tomorrow morning is another Ketley of Fish however

By:
yep ted, couldnt be going against draw with tomorrows forecast but might be worth laying later in test as game could well move on a pace, windies 6 down for 136 and 60 at TB.

By:
I really don't think WI are that bad as they've proved in this series already. Likely to be interruptions Sunday and Monday as well.

good rain radar site : http://www.meteox.co.uk/forecastloop.aspx?type=1#

Sun blazing down now here in Leicester. Does anybody know the wind direction tomorrow? In other words where will the rain be coming from?

MP - From the SW - it's clear on the link I just posted

Excellent! Cheers!

FWIW, from looking at the rain radar here's my prediction for overs available each day:
Thurs - No play Friday - 15 overs Saturday - 75 overs Sunday - 75 overs Monday - 40 overs i.e. 205 overs. A result is a huge long shot - perhaps more so than the market is currently predicting. Will be interesting after the event to see how close it is. |

Those scenarios where a result is possible on Sunday and Monday look a bit iffy on the basis of this evening's model output:
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm961.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm1201.gif These UK Met Office runs for Sunday and Monday are typical. Immovable high pressure over Greenland and slack, unstable low pressure stretching from France to Murmansk. Nowhere in the UK is going to escape a mixture of rain and thundery showers on that basis. It's possible Birmingham could get away with it in the first half of Sunday and Monday, before showers get triggered later in the day. But at this stage I'd want bigger than 2/1 against the window being big enough to force a result. |
By:
Another lurch down - the market is so inefficient it's joyful at times.

Murmansk - good ole Cold War Port that was only ever operational for about 3 months of the year

Hence Russia's uncompromising refusal to allow Ukraine to leave its, er, sphere of influence. Without access to Ukraine's Black Sea coast via the Ukrainian port of Odessa, the Russian Navy would be stuck in HARBOUR for 9 months of the year. Unless it was prepared to sail half way around the planet from Vladivostok.

Bloody Chinese laptop. I don't know why I shouted HARBOUR there.

i wonder if bfair will open a 'Play today ...yes/no ' market ??
i seem to remember this market becoming available in the past saw 356 quid wanting to back 10 runs or more at 2.0's in the morning session runs market and nearly lapped it all up ...however, the rules state that at least one ball must be bowled for bets to stand ![]() |

Very grey and raining at the moment.Looks like a lot of rain has come down during the night as well so outfield must be pretty wet.
So frustrating if you were looking forward to going etc but draw backers wont worry. |

By:
Didn't start raining in Brum until around 5-5.30am
By:
ok thanks -well am 5 min from ground in a place that overlooks a park and it looks very wet so thought it must of been earlier.

By:
There were a couple of heavy showers last evening.

Morning,
Just arrived at work in Birmingham and its raining very hard. Just can't see there being any play this morning let alone later this afternoon. There were showers yesterday from around 4pm-6pm which included a heavy thunderstorm/downpour arounnd 5pm. I'm guessing the outfield isn't looking very clever right now. Keep you posted if it cheers up in Brum. |
By:
a ball won't be bowled today and the draw might drop 4 ticks or so by tonite is my guess ...

By:
forcast not as bad as yesterday imo should get some over in 1st 2 days with last 3 days clearing up hopefully min 300 to 350 overs in match
