I dont know how you guys estimate the likely overs left from the weather forecast.  For instance Monday says showers with 60% chance of rain, but 60% chance of how much rain i.e. how many overs will be lost?

maybe strauss declare 50 behind with an hour left tomorrow and knock wi over for 100

Fashion - Declare behind in a test match? Dont think so. Those crazy tactics are only in the county champs.  They would be better off trying to score at 8 an over until all out when the scores are close. Better to be 50 ahead at end of day but even then there is rain forecast for monday so draw looks fairly certain imo

Test captains tend to be very conservative on the matter of declarations fashion fever - unless there is a leather coat in it for themLaugh

Captain Wurzel - I think it is disgusting form taking  the urine out of a dead person.

Weather still looks pretty bad tomorrow.

Onions gave an indication of what will happen.  He reckoned :

bail WI out in two balls this morning.
Bat for most of day/all day and hopefully reach/beat WI score.
Put them into bat Monday and heavy pressure

Geoff Boycott put the chances at 1/25 ignoring the weather

I have them at 1/100 given the weather.

on a 1.2 draw lay

not hopeful at all now

wi got too many here now, unless they run through england in 40 overs today Angry

pitch does look good for batting.  ENG could easily get 350+ today

Indeed it does Nigel. Means with one (probably rain affected) day they have to get through two innings! Not going to happen IMO!

yeah, could have been different but the two key points were:

Weather forecast in UK is usually pretty good 2-3 days in advance
WI aren't as bad as most think in - i.e. they won't get skittled for 160 twice!
By:
nigelpm1
When: 10 Jun 12 11:31
They are however very good at losing tests from good positions.

question on my mind, just say england forfeited their  1st innings and declared at 0 for 0, can west indies ask then   to follow on , or for that matter any team thats 200 runs behind and declared. silly question but any answers

But what if they get out now, England knock up a quick 450 or something and then get WI all out for 90-odd?
By:
Fallen Angel
When: 10 Jun 12 11:55
Difficult to knock a quick 450 Cool that will be sometime tomorrow evening at the scoring rates so far

One thing is for sure, with the performance these batters have made some of WI guys who've been rested will be worried about their test places in future...
By:

more chance of Windies bowled ENG out twice.

When: 10 Jun 12 11:58
Don't know why people are discussing how England are going to win this game.  With the body language of England this morning, I would be more worried that England have mentally decided they can't win but may have forgotten about the possibility that they could lose.

Follow-on is only 150 behind in a shortened game, and there is of course the unknown in Narine as well...
By:
nigelpm1
When: 10 Jun 12 11:59
agreed. There's probably 1/100 windies win
