yeah, some of the posts here gave me that impression ;-) I did flag it very early in the thread though for those who were choosing to listen.

i was away last week...

i was gonna back @ 4.4 but had nearly all my money in a footy game.. that was on the next day... ended up getting on @ 3.2 & 2.72
By:
and 4.5 into 1.5 pre game is the biggest change in odds pre test ever seen. I'm fkin disgusted with myself for missing it really
By:
Good arbs as well between bookies and BF on the draw
By:
although there often is pre-match in Cricket. Best sport for it I think.
By:
There was at one point a decent arb to the Sportsbook. Draw was 3.25 to back on Sportsbook and the market 3ish to lay. Max bet was 250 for me though
By:
It's gonna be an on / off day tomorrow. There'll be all sorts of market activity if the Windies bat first.
By:
It looks like fine rain all day tomorrow per the radar. At which rate 1.36 does not look sensible.
However Saturday (no rain) and Sunday (rain after 5pm) are looking much better. Monday still looks ominous. |
By:
monday ominous?? you sure?

The good news is this machine should sort the outfield out fast should there be a window tomorrow

Here's one forecast anyway
http://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/England/Birmingham/hour_by_hour_detailed.html |
By:
That one agrees closely to the rain radar. Not sure where the others look but these agree to the c.200 overs theory.

Another example of a forfeited innings : http://www.durhamccc.co.uk/news/durham-2xi-v-yorkshire/
By:
forfeited innings not a chance
By:
Innings forfeit is done fairly often (2-3 times a season maybe) in county games but not in tests.
It's a completely different scenario since batting/bowling bonus points in county games are only available during the first innings for both sides. The championship points on offer for a win versus a draw encourages teams to try and get a result also. I don't see anything to be gained by England forfeiting an innings. They've already won the series and don't need to win this test to keep the number one rankings spot. The Windies might want to propose the idea in the vain hope Strauss agrees (which he undoubtedly wouldn't) and then again they may be happy with a draw and not getting beaten 3-0. |
By:
wont be forfeiting anything batting 1st. way too risky with the unknown Narine factor.
FC for tomo looks worse now and a washout with lots of dry but unplayable periods (cos of the carp drainage) pretty likely. |
By:
gotta have the toss too. that will waste 30 minutes of possible playing time
By:
market finally got it - 1.22, laid some off that I backed at 1.38 y'day - good money being made here just trading the reactions to seemingly nothing.
By:
still some 2/7 draw with the bookies worth backing.
By:
yeah, boyle, lads & PP - banned from all those because I made too much money! LOL

Morning,
A another wet and breezy morning here in Brum, just had two bursts of heavy rain in the last hour, light drizzle now though. |
By:
Does anybody know at what point in a match the declaration of a 1 innings game is made? Does it have to be made before the toss?
By:
I would forget about innings forfeit, it is not going to happen, trust me.
By:
I concur-frankly its horrible weather-rain ,windy and cold. Not a chance of any play before Lunch in my opinion(u Knew that anyway)!
By:
i cannot ever remember any innings forfeit in test cricket.
good question this but does anyone know if it has ever happened? |
By:
Yeah, happened when england toured south africa in 2000
By:
cheers
dont remember it tbh |
By:
cronje needed to get the bookies a result

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63864.html
found it only time it has ever happened i think. |
By:
here you go d13phe
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63864.html there's a good film I watched on YouTube about Cronje's match fixing but can't find it right now. |
By:
the mad thing is,nothings changed from yesterday,we all knew weather was going to be bad today & yet the draw has come in from 1.37 to 1.2.
By:
Thanks for the replies and links d13phe and fairfranco. I know it's unlikely, but always good to know for certain when elements of doubt can be ruled out.
By:
If it was done it would instantly be investigated.
Teams value not losing games too much to put a match on the line like that really as well. |
By:
wouldnt be a backer at 1.2
always a chance england roll through the windies imo |
By:
expect some volatility in the market around news of the toss ...if windies bat first expect a driffy from the draw ...
forecast looks better from what i've seen previously ...shifted some draw green to england just in case |
By:
yes it would be a dodgy thing to do in the current climate with betting scandal,so i dont think it will happen,so the draw should be 1.01,as there will only a maximum of 1 1/2 days play
By:
thanks to lix on the nod towards the 2/7
![]() am on nicely !! ![]() |
By:
the toss wont be done today though as the whole day will be a wash-out
