defo looking like a draw. Laying Aus at 5 today was fairly close to free money in my book
By:
Looked quite gloomy but could just be that particular camera angle. Commentators seem confident that the weather is not hanging around too long.
By:
So in case of a result which team are you backing dougy?
By:
windies got a lot less to do, aus probably got to score 400 more runs to win this test, wi being all out 2nd innings for 200 would actually help their chance of a result.
Just layed the 1.19 draw current book small win draw big win wi level aus |
By:
make that more like 450-500 runs for aus, the more weather about the quicker their price goes out and the more this becomes a 2 horse race
By:
more price action now the weather has come than when the game was actually going on. Liquidity has rocketed
By:
quicker their price should go out
By:
cant see much more than 20 more overs today if aus 270/4 with 2 days left they wpnt get to windies total till well after tea tomorrow assuming they get there and no more interruptions leaves west indies to bat for 65 overs for a draw
By:
It must be reasonably gloomy, they haven't gone back to the game since they came off.
By:
Yeah Peter i guess it would be Windies batting to save the match..Aussies would somehow manage to get on par with the windies score but as of now Aussies have more work to do than Windies.
By:
Anyways I have greened up by laying draw here at 1.19...Equal on Windies and Draw...Huge green on Aussies...so lets see how this goes from here..I might lay one of the sides end of day tomorrow to get the freebies :)
By:
totally agree runs on the board at mo but they went for light at around normal finish time today and tomorrow similar weather game not moving on very fast without aus wickets . aus cannot afford to up the scoring rate because they are still in a precarious position and secretly I think west indies would not be too disappointed with a solid draw
By:
I'm just merrily laying off AUS here everytime sometime takes me off the book at 11.5 - crazy stuff - there's nowhere near a 9% chance of Aus winning.
By:
Do cricinfo actually have anyone at the ground or do they just sit in an office with a sky feed?
By:
The impression I get is that they normally just have people following the TV pics, but then I heard the Test Match Special guys interviewing one of them in Colombo the other day, so maybe they do send a few guys to various matches...
By:
Forecast deterioating for the next 2 days. 60% chance of showers tomorrow compared with 40% on Wednesday.
By:
Considering they are owned by ESPN now I had hoped they have a person at each test match. Must be poor light at the moment keeping the players off
By:
Play to resume
By:
probably sending folks to some internationals every now and than, but I remember non international games with interruptions in tv feed during which they stopped the live ticker
By:
Maybe I think more people work for cricinfo than actually do.
By:
As someone who works for an online media organisation (financial, not sport) I can tell you that Web sites generally do not spend a lot of money on journalists, whether they are owned by a big media organisation or not. Most journalists these days are tied to a desk and a computer - and don't get out and about...
By:
@RJB, interesting I maybe have a sentimental view imagining them in the field reporting from the action. I suppose in the era of satellite sport that's not required.
By:
your better off looking at the media of the countries involved - Aus and windies
By:
I expect they might use a few freelances from time to time. But if you were a Web site trying to make money from online advertising you aren't exactly going to have a huge budget for salaried journalists - other than people you know are working all the time you are paying them, i.e. people who are having to write text in real time...
The only organisation I know of that can afford to spend a lot of money on journalists who have to produce very little is the BBC and that's because its massive budget is paid for by those of us who pay the television tax in Britain. |
By:
poor shot choice
By:
Boom
Huge wicket |
By:
Got to be one of the stupidest shots ever, just before the new ball, against a bowler getting massive turn and variation in bounce
draw price even more ridiculous now |
By:
loads of variable bounce out there
By:
What a luxury for Aus having Mike Hussey batting as low as No. 6 in a situation like this.
By:
best number 6 in the world screamers, has been for some time
By:
anaemic RR taking Australia out of the game here
By:
think they just wanna hang on in there now aussies
By:
16 runs needed to avoid the follow-on. If Wade can stay in for another few overs then the price of the draw will drop significantly...
By:
sometimes looks very dark and sometimes looks very pleasant. Difficult to tell exactly what the light is like with the effect of TV
By:
Yep. 55% of the game gone and the market's finally realized Aus are not playing like a winning team.
By:
Wasn't the starting price for Aus only 1.6 or something? Almost as if the market participants hadn't seen the one dayers between these two...
By:
When Aus get to 250, if the price is still 1.3 on the draw, I'll be putting my bank on it...
By:
brightened up, now take the new ball
By:
hussey certainly aint got many cheap runs at 6 in last couple of years with this aussie line up
made so many important knocks |
By:
guys absolute class, haven't seen any other left hander in the world handle swann as well either.
The constant talk about dropping him every time he goes two games without scoring a run has always been madness. |
