lanka real short at mo imo

215-4 to 227-6. The old "add 20 runs and take away 2 Jayawardenas" adage coming good.
By:
kp might have had a hatfull.....
By:
sri lanka do look short
wicket does look good. |

WS - england defo favs at mo
By:
Trying to ge out but can't get matched

By:
Not sure whether Eng should be favs yet, ws. They are going to have to bat last on this.
By:
i must admit having finn in the side gives you the bonus of scaring the life out of tails again
By:
might not be true that screaming if they bat well
By:
keeping my draw back, due to concerns about the weather.
By:
I've got it priced up now exactly as I had it pre-match on page 1:
SL 13/8 Eng 17/10 Draw 3/1 |
By:
Fair point, d13. Just hadn't considered that possibility after the events of this winter.
By:
yea i think draw is overpriced... unless england mop up now
By:
terrible from england that. last ball, had to keep matthews down that end
By:
well the spinners haven't really threatened and the seamers have done the damage so that must bode well for england
pitch looks good to me as well |
By:
market is bonkers
![]() |
By:
swann ragged a few square. age old adage... don't judge the pitch till both teams have batted on it
By:
true
By:
I'm going more on the 3-day matches played here this spring, d13. Have a quick glance at the last one for a good example.
http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/356/356262.html 601-9 dec led to an innings victory. This pitch may not play the same on day 3 as on day 1. |
By:
surely this game is all about judging a pitch before both teams bat on it
unless your out of the market until the 2nd innings |
By:
kinda think england seamers will really like the uneven bounce 2nd time around
By:
but then again, can see this being a minefield on day 5 so wouldn't fancy england chasing 200+ against herath and co popping it out of rough / cracks. all in all set up well at the mo pttt
By:
same old story this. England need the runs in first innings
for me they have the pitch to make 400 on days 2 and 3. If they do it could be a 100+ lead which could and probably would prove crucial surely they will finally get it right tomorrow |
By:
exactly what i was thinking step
that said, england haven't played spin well and we will find out very quickly if they have changed their game plan when strauss either gets forward or goes back. |
By:
huge first session imo. could go either way. mathews well capable of smashing them around for 80no and lanka 320 - massive difference between 265/320. bowlers have to get it right first up
By:
this is why i love this game all about the ifs and the buts
thats why there is always a difference of opinions on here another 60 runs at the same pace and the draw becomes a real runner again at the moment i think this as been Englands day |
By:
that last over never really caused any probs for lower middle order, looks a good pitch still i reckon
By:
i am not a massive fan of the draw as some of you know but Sri Lanka's scoring rate has brought it into play here imo
By:
very true D13

check you all tomorrow

i backed sri lanka at the start as englands record on the sub continent is very poor and they have shown me nothing about that to change my mind.
this match as has the series in general terms depends on how england bat. |
By:
Jayawardene's wicket was a big one. I was worried he would go on to make 150 or something. This tail should be dealt with before lunch tomorrow for 30/40 runs and then we can push on and get over 300 ourselves.
Dropping Panesar was a good move. He seemed to add very little to the bowling attack and, quit frankly, England need fielders who can catch a ball. Hopefully Cook can finally deliver a half-decent score, but I am still a bit worried about Pietersen and Strauss. Strauss needs to perform with the bat tomorrow, otherwise he is history imo... |
By:
what are the conditions forecast for tomorrow? Game looks well set. Sri Lanka haven't taken the game away from England with the slow run rate and enough wickets have gone down to suggest a result is still a big favourite. Be surprised that however slowly England bat they will score quicker than Sri Lanka.
