England lost last match because they lost the toss, imo... England are the better all round team, imo. Always best to back the team that needs to win. So big win England at 3, trading out at 1.8ish.

That seems fair but I'm going to hold fire for the moment. I want to see the official pitch report, see what the weather is doing Tues morning and who wins the toss. There may be an opportunity to back England at 4s or more....

Pitch was very green when I went to the ground 3 days ago. Will probably be looking rather more straw coloured now though. Its been raining at night here most nights but not till dark and always seems to be very hot and sunny by the morning.

But for Jayawardene's first innings knock and Monty's nightmare, England would have won the first test. We'll win this one.

forecast for 4 of the 5 days says at least 40% chance of rain on the weather channel, but i'm not sure if that could be in the evening in which case it should be fine during the day. how well does the ground take water, any help would be appreciated.

always lay the draw these days with DRS, but might go lower than current price
not sure of the stats but not that many draws about in the last few years even in Asia |

Pitch cracked. Variable bounce might become a factor. Not that i really trust that buffoon. |

hope they pick finn
could see him going through this sri lankan line up |

Batting first seems to have been an advantage in all the three-day matches on this ground so far this year. A fair number of results, and all of the games would have seen a result if 5 days had been available.
Lix's weather report suggests any rain will just be showers overnight triggered by the hot, humid daytime air rising and condensing. I agree with skipthatstep that England did quite well in the 1st Test to go so close to winning after losing the toss. If they could have played with 10 men and left Panesar in the dressing room, they might even have won. So with a good chance of a result, and little between the sides assuming Panesar will never again be allowed near an England shirt, my prices are: SL 13/8 Eng 17/10 Draw 3/1 |

Worth getting up!
There's always some chance it could flatten out, but the variable bounce so far points to a quick, low-scoring game here. |

what would be the odds for draw after end of 1st day if no wickets fall..!!!
any idea.... have layed draw at 3.95 ... so i can come out with profit everywhere... but i wanna w8..... but scared bout rains... and have to go outside.. so cant keep a track on the odds... any guesses? |
By:
no replies.. :(
atleast temme that do you guyz think it will fall below 3.95 /.... will the draw odds fall below 3.95? |
By:
If no more wickets fell today, the draw would be about 2.0 at the close, I guess.
But what do YOU think it would be? |
By:
if no more wkts today, and say score of 220/3 - 250/3, price on draw imo 2.5
By:
ps , no 2.0
By:
so that means i should back it now itself.... have layed at 3.95
ithad rached 5.5 but wanted to wait and now its near... 4.5 have to leave so cant keep a track.... so betta i backk now and com in profits.. thx all above.. :) |

By:
draw very remote then is it?
By:
looking bloody hard work now
2 wickets this session would be superb for eng |
By:
Only been one draw in the last ten tests here.
By:
Looking more likely that Swann will pick a wicket now that the ball has gone
By:
although Sri Lanka will most likely bat very well this session
By:
If these two bring the draw anywhere below 3 (currently 3.5) I'll be seriously tempted to lay it. Can't see a draw here.
By:
Took some of England at 3.3 with samaraweera getting clouted on the head, always a chance of a wicket after getting clouted. Will take time to get moving again.
By:
greetings gentlemen, england struggling now after a quick start, need to get rid of jayawardene asap.
By:
Yep, although no wickets since lunch the game aint getting away from england
just 29 runs since lunch |
