its called repechage meaning chance to return
the british judo heavyweight got one the same way it is perfectly normal |
By:
I thought it was because if a Semi Finalist got knocked out they wouldn't be able to fight again for 3 weeks due to the rules?
By:
Maybe that's just Boxing.

So.....3 medals to go. What we got left? Well for me there's a cert in the canoe tomorrow. McGeever or whatever his name is. So that's 2 to go. You've got to think Mo in the 5k should get a medal (although I don't think it'll be gold personally). So the last? Well there is the rest of the athletics programme which in terms of medals adds up to just the 4x400m womens. Chance there I feel. There's also the modern pentathlon and I believe GB have a reasonable shot in the womens. There's also the mountain bike to go at. Oh, and also the mens bronze medal playoff, although I expect Australia to win that one. Think this will come in, but Farah is the ket imho

I should add that there are two other outside bets in the canoe / kayak sprints
By:
Aside from McKeever and Farah, our best chance is probably the men in the K2 kayaking.
By:
Modern Pentathlon woman ranked 4th in the world so must have a pretty good chance.
By:
It'll be tight! ... 62 medals nailed on! :)
By:
McKeever medals (gold) thats down to 2 medals required I believe.
By:
v. good start to the day. That's one of the two certs weighed in. 2 medals to go.
Remaining chances: 4x400m women 2 chances on the lake this morning in canoe Mo Fo Girl in modern pentathalon (4th in world) Mountain bikers Tom Daly in 10m Platform men in hockey 8 chances. 2 medals required. |

Tom Daly in 10m Platform
Good luck with that project ![]() |

Disclaimer:
Please note that all 'chances' quoted in the previous post vary from approximately 1% to 70%. Daly clearly falls at the lower end of those 'chances' ![]() |

Tom Daley,Shanaze Read and the swimmers, the expression 'treat em mean, keep em keen' never been more appropriate.

By:
Tom Daley typical " morning glory" if ever I saw one,if anyone is depending on this floof getting a medal,as we say in Jockoland "yer having a giraffe".![]() |
By:

woodbridge, mens mod pent has made a decent start in the fencing, he could still figure in the medals as the day goes on, he's been making the frame in top competition in the last 2 years
slim chance but he's got the potential if he gets some luck with the horses |
By:
elise loved your above quote"luck with the horses",that could be applicable to everyone on here.

By:
elise - just been researching this one myself. Ranked in worlds top 10 and is currently tied 5th after the fencing. V. good start.
By:
same site also ranks the girl as number 2 in the world so good chances tomorrow
By:
if ever there was a lottery that's it, everytime you see a fav draw the donkey you have to laugh at his utter despair after training for 4 years

By:
last olym, the leader at the time was almost in tears as some shipped in nag ran riot, would expect the uk horses to be of a better standard but there will be huge difference in ability
By:
agreed. But no less unfair than people able to buy the best horses to 'win' gold medals at the Olypmics. Personally I don't think it should be included in the Olympics, but then I'm just a Marxist lol

they have combined the shooting/running these days so it's a better event, still stuck in the past though
the fencing is not half way through yet, drags on |

But no less unfair than people able to buy the best horses to 'win' gold medals at the Olypmics.
Didn't help the Germans this time, their reputed 10 million euro horse was stuck at home munching on carrots. |
By:
A slightly disappointing day yesterday, the way both BMX riders were riding in their semi finals gave me hope that this could have been all but over yesterday but unfortunately not to be.
It might be a bit of an outside chance but id really like to see us grab an extra medal from eton dorney this morning in the two remaining races. |
By:
Is 'munching on carrots' a euphamism?
By:
Sudoku - think Mo is the key. If he medals then this bet comes in. If he doesn't then it's still in the balance. Still pretty confident tho. Of course, if one more medal this morning then it really is all over.

this could be close for bronze, gb have a sniff here

By:

By:
Bonus bronze in canoe sprint. Looking good now.
By:
Wipes sweat off of brow. We needed that. Great bronze. 1 needed!
By:
still need one, surely we get one
By:
Well done one to go by my reckoning

By:
fair play to whoever came up with 62.5, hats off sir
By:
So we need 1 out of mens hockey, mens and womens modern pentathlon, tom daley, mo farah and the womens 4x400m.
By:
indeed - great handicapping. Still, 63.5 would've been more accurate ;-)

got mountain bike outside shot, but not likely
