The Tories will always let 'illegals' into the country. Whilst dim-wits are throwing their toys out the pram, they'll be selling the country off to the Chinese and other Foreigners.

What does freedom of movement in the EU mean?
Free movement of workers is a fundamental principle of the EU. Citizens of EU Member States are entitled to:

look for a job in another EU country
work there without needing a work permit
reside there for that purpose
stay there even after employment has finished
enjoy equal treatment with nationals in access to employment, working conditions and all other social and tax advantages

Free movement rights may differ somewhat for people who plan to be self-employed, students, and retired or otherwise economically non-active people; although in practice the UK makes no attempt to enforce any restrictions on these groups.

Clearly open borders doesn't mean zero border checks. It means the bits in bold.

uh...no

Open borders means open borders.

Are you obtuse? So your proposal is to continue with freedom of movement with the EU, even though we will have left the EU. In my view that is a very left wing proposal.

Open borders quite obviously can't be "you don't need a work permit, but you will still be controlled, will have to tell the host country where you life (ok, not in the UK) andcan be denied entry and refused residency."

No, but you were talking about open borders. It's not my fault if you just throw up illogical, inadequate soundbites that you heard from some BS-er somewhere when in fact you mean free movement of labour.

Will Germans still be allowed to enter the country ?
And what about Australians ?
And what about Tunisians ?

If you are aware of what is intended by that phrase, but pretend not to know, that is being obtuse. Clearly I don't think many people are literally advocating zero border checks allowing convicted murders free entry from anywhere in the world.

It's ok. Just be more careful with throwing around useless soundbites from now on.

Anyhow, we got to the meat of the point in the end, and I would consider your proposal to be a left leaning one.

I didn't propose a continuation of freedom of movement anywhere.

I specifically talked about a status quo regarding the common travel area with Ireland and border controls with the Schengen area. Remember, we were talking about border controls (well, I was. You were using inadequate terminology)
By:

Not status quo regarding freedom of movement.

An alligator believed to have once belonged to Adolf Hitler has died in Moscow Zoo.
The zoo said the reptile, called Saturn, was around 84-years-old when he died on Friday.
Saturn was born in Mississippi in the US and was later gifted to Berlin Zoo, from which he escaped when it was bombed in 1943.

In other lockdown flouting news: Van der Bellen, Austria's President, went to a restaurant yesterday night and stayed past the mandated 11 pm closure. It was reported in the news, he apologised today, and offered to pay any fines for the restaurant owner (who said he stopped service at 11pm, but didn't know he had to send customers home).

Men in high offices can apologise. Even if you don't mean it, at least give the public the illusion that you are sorry instead of openly showing them your disdain for them.
