As I said, the devolved nations could have waited. There was nothing pressing to announce on a Sunday, especially when Boris was addressing the UK later in the day.

In Scotland especially there is an element of ideology involved, and Sturgeon would face a lot of domestic criticism for a perception of 'blindly' following 'England'. I certainly picked up that vibe from the Scottish press conference zoom press pack.

Its the fault of the BBC if they have broadcast that England only Boris message. Boris was not addressing the UK.

The speech was leaked to the media, the message is at best unclear, they disagree with it and it involves apparently telling people that they might have to go to work on Monday at 7pm Sunday. Of course they had to respond and waiting until afterwards was too late.

If he wanted them to wait he shouldn't have leaked it to the media.

He was clearly addressing the overarching nation, as PM. PM of the United Kingdom which is made up of four countries.

He was not, he was addressing England only. He has no powers regarding health in any of the devolved countries.

His communication is abysmal. Leaking to the press and then not making it clear who he was addressing. No wonder they came out and made clear statements. They must think he's a complete cretin.

They(England) are guessing at an "R" of between 0.5 and 0.9, Germany had an R rate of 0.7 when it came out of lockdown and on even Weds was just 0.65, the last 2 days after easing measures the R has for the last 2 days gone to 1.1,on the verge and worrying now of a 2nd wave.

How good do you think their messaging will be?  Have a guess?

Yes. The same stupid mixed message as when he told the nation he was shaking hands with people in hospitals. The masses are of average intelligence, by definition. They'll think there's nothing to worry about again. Complete pillock who has learned nothing from contracting the virus through being an idiot.

Obviously the strategy is to negate the risk of big movement within the UK and Northern Ireland , ffs its not rocket science, same as the football, they don't want to risk celebrations if the football is called, people coming onto the streets ect, drinking and spreading. Its all part of the plan, same as announcing there would be an announcement, market sensitive info and was done prior to market closure on Thursday, they announced on Wed I think it was. Its all going OK.

As for the "r" figure, walofs, its just a guess without testing everyone regular, yea more cases will turn up at hospitals or via doctors but longer you lock down longer normal immunity to coughs and colds will decrease. Soon be peak hay fever season too.

Fact weather will be a bit more inclement over coming week a good thing.

All good so far and of course there will be more cases as lock down comes off, but people know what the symptoms are and hopefully isolate ASAP.

Over the next year or so it will prob turn out we done OK.

Leftists trying to kick the country when it's down as per usual and hopefully folks remember them for it.Down nothing for the country, never have and never will.

I think case has went stir crazy.Laugh
Anything but a gung ho approach btw.
Tis a staggered get back to work if safe to do so.
Plus allowing people more freedom on exercising and etc
And asking that they stay alert to problems by social distancing.
What is the alternative? Permanent lockdown?
Asking people to be sensible aint asking too much.

Ever wondered why Japan, South Korea have low numbers??
They have few muslims or blacks
UK & USA has plenty and the correlation is obvious to see
4 times more likely to get infected

Do you think this virus was a USA bio warfare weapon designed to wipeout muslim nations and therefore their terrorist threat

I wouldn't have thought so, I think it's the praying and living in confined spaces.
A lot of muslim countries have been heavily locked down so it will be interesting to see what happens when they are opened again

He actively encouraged people to go out, he emphasized "unlimited" exercise, he said go to the parks, people may well leave their houses with good intentions on social distancing but with 1,000's now released to go wherever they please the result will be no social distancing at all as places where people gather will be packed.

Also, the first children being released back to school are those in reception classes, 4 and 5 year old children!!! social distancing? really?

He even re-iterates that we still haven't met all 5 points to release lock down, but does so anyway Confused

You'd be forgiven for thinking that his intention was to raise the infection level not decrease it.

Under 11 year olds have practically no chance of dying from Coronavirus.

Under 25-year-olds have less than 0.5% chance of dying from coronavirus.

Under 40-year-olds have less than 1% chance of dying from coronavirus.

Economy has to be restarted as soon as possible…… It may already be too late !
