What a complete waste of time when over 10m people in the UK already got/had the virus.
I thought you said that virus contagion wasn't exponential? It would have to be if 10m people were infected. |
By:
Regardless the intention, i think the effect of this is to strongly discourage business trips and tourists, isnt it?
Certainly not going to help on the economic side. Uncertain what it will do on the virus side |
By:
IF( and i have my doubts) they are ever asked the question why now...why not back in Feb it will be of great interest to to hear their answer.
Originally, when asked ,the answer was ...well...the virus is already here so the risk of further contamination is small. SO WHAT'S CHANGED??? |
By:
Pretty basis maths twizzle22.
By:
The economic argument is a very thin one, there's not much incentive for tourists to come to the UK to spend money anyway. What are they going to spend money on even if they are willing to travel to another country at this time? Obviously most people won't be going abroad from the UK this year either and it will be the same for other developed nations.
By:
Reducing the risk of imported cases also provides flexibility to relax lockdown adjustments in other areas.
By:
3 months too late. more evidence to use in the impending trials.
By:
I realise it's a relatively obvious point but we've all been in lockdown anyway. This is more significant when the measures are eased.
By:
its not enforceable.
if and obviously don't know ins and outs, it stipulates, the address where you advise you are staying in quarantine for 14 days can be checked at any time to ensure adherence then fair enough. a fine of say 10k if person not present at time of check/raid . |
By:
It's a disincentive predominantly, if it comes to fruition. One would expect airlines and airports to be against a measure designed to restrict travel.
By:
they are, airline organisations already kicking off about it.
By:
We should have shut down everything from the start, flights in/out, ferries eg, the lot. If we had done so, as an island, we perhaps now would be virtually virus free and could start sensibly a managed reactivation of the economy.
By:
It was estimated 1.8 million British nationals were abroad at the time of lockdown. The mistake was allowing people to leave the country once the issues covid 19 were going to cause became apparent.

So 2 weeks holiday means 2 weeks locked in a hotel on arrival and 2 weeks locked in hotel on return.

Where do I sign
![]() |

By:
these arent holiday makers.make no mistake these are holders of british passports among others who want to be here because they know they will be far better off here than their "home" country. lets stop beating about the bush.
i can just see 15k policemen a day knocking on doors to see if there in the house. howay man its feckin laughable |
By:
I have no issue with British passport holders returning if they feel they are better off here, on commercial flights.
By:
even infected ones?
By:
Not evidently infected people no. Presumably that's why they are considering introducing a 14 day quarantine.

Still 3 months late. Why end of May, why not as from this coming monday?
By:
Once we get to the point where we let pubs, hotels and restaurants open here, then we have to impose quarantine on visitors from infected countries, else it will rise up again.
By:
Why end of May, why not as from this coming monday? Because we are currently in lockdown, so won't make a material difference
