For what it is worth, I believe this issue with Jenrick to be little more than a storm in a teacup.

However, many will see it as described by jollyswagman i.e. a wealthy government minister with multiple homes ensuring that his family have a more comfortable time than those cooped up in inner cities.

All he had to do was come out with a statement that displayed just a hint of contrition, story laid to rest.
Instead, we get a standard "ride it out" dismissal, and Jenrick will now be placed in to isolation along with Patel.

Calderwood at least had the courage to come out and face the media who were baying for her blood.

people understood like me or thought they understood a key worker was a worker who,s job was on government list and employers would furlough everyone else, then tory mp, after tory mp went on tv to say anyone who couldn't work from home had to continue to go to work unless their boss said otherwise, basically within 48 hrs there was no such thing as a key worker, just people who couldn't work from home

cider thanks for that, i missed that bit. maybe looking for a story but not a leftist agenda, imo. you think differently.what about the pm and gove not understanding their own advice? if the government dont understand their own advice or if the rich (jenrick) have more acceptable reasons to move around then dont be surprised if the public are confused or think they can ignore the official advice.rolling news need headlines/stories   some people are morons

jolly, once one sees the left agenda in the mainstream media, one can't unsee it! I was never political at all until the majority of MPs in parliament at the time tried to overturn the referendum result. There are genuine people on the left side of politics, but they are swamped by the more vocal types that can't abide an opinion that differs from their own. I'm happy to debate anyone on any topic as long as they remain relatively civil.

Likely there have been times where the government and advisers haven't been able to follow the letter of all the guidance. They have been working for us though, it's not happened for selfish reasons. Mostly due to the ancient, antiquated nature of #10 and Westminster parliament where people are squeezed into limited spaces. Hindsight is a great thing and let's be honest, not many people thought the situation we're in now was a genuine prospect even a month ago. CV 19 is genuinely the silent and invisible killer.

the majority of MPs in parliament at the time tried to overturn the referendum result - that is a different subject but the current pm voted against leaving the eu twice and the current home secretary voted against leaving three times. in contrast hammond and gauke both voted to leave the eu four times but because they wanted parliament to have an appropriate amount of time to examine the final withdrawal bill they were purged from the conservative party. if the erg had voted en bloc the original withdrawal bill would have had enough votes to pass on the third attempt, the erg stopped brexit.

you started a thread or went on a thread where you said you liked cummings because he triggers lefties. a few weeks ago (before lock down but after some panic buying had occurred) kuenssberg reported that a government source had told her that london was to be locked down. this would undoubtedly have led to even more panic buying. the very next day when asked about this the pm said london would not be locked down. this was a reckless lie to spread, imo, whoever that government source was (usually its cummings) should have been sacked for spreading disinformation and charged with misfeasance in public office. this is a scandal yet the 'leftie' media have made nothing out of it.

there was a covid 19 thread on here that got deleted, i cant remember when it started but i think it was more than a month ago. the people on it expressing concern have been proved correct.

Although I'm happy to debate anything like I said, I don't really have any appetite to rehash the Brexit arguments again! Let's just say that my opinion is that the majority of MPs wanted to overturn the result of the referendum. I referenced that subject only because that is what sparked my interest in politics, not because I wanted to cover well worn arguments again.

Your second para is pure supposition. Apart from Kuenssberg reporting an apparent leak from an apparent unnamed source. The BBC is a public broadcaster anyway, has a duty of care and should not be reporting hearsay and speculation via unnamed 'government sources' in my view. I stand by my assertion that Cummings triggers the leftist mainstream media. Often by design I suspect.

I said not many people thought the situation we're in now was a genuine prospect even a month ago. The world markets started properly crashing on 5th March so I should correct that it was actually a little over a month ago. Time perception is a bit off key at the moment Happy

Should we listen to the people in charge?
