I had two nights in January or February when I woke up with wet sheets. I am hoping this may have been a mild form of the virus but I don’t think anyone I came into contact with has got it so probably not.

131 confirmed cases Durham up 11 ?? A very small rise of less than 10 % if the figures are to be believed ,although SD certainly appears to be being adhered to in my little area ....

I actually had the dry cough begin on Tuesday, 7 days after symptons first started. Whilst none of the symptons in themselves have been bad, the sheer number of them, and the way they come and go has been draining. Do feel, touch wood, I'm on the road to recovery. Waiting for our helpful shopper to get the chicken soup and wine gums, not planning on eating them together mind.
I never have soup and now I've got a craving |

My timeline as well as I can remember
Evening of Tuesday 24th March .... Start to feel slightly unwell. Take my temperature and it's normal Wednesday 25th March ... A bit of a blocked nose and a slight cough, and semi diarrhea but feel ok. Thursday 26th March... Diarrhea gone, cough gone, nose now runny and feel fine. I go out for a 5 mile cycle ride. Surely this isn't COVID-19. Friday 27th March ...Wife is in bed all day, feeling unwell. We move into separate rooms and self isolate as a family. I start to develop muscle pains in my arms and legs and start taking pain killers regularly. The muscle pains come in waves (that is the enduring legacy of my time with the virus) Friday night to Monday 30th March. Wife continues to stay in bed through to Sunday. I feel ill but well enough to keep things ticking in the house. Starting to get very dehydrated despite drinking loads, especially at night. My throat is just incredibly dry. Can't sleep for more than 3 hours at a time, and generally that's just the one 3 hours. Constantly needing the loo at night, despite being parched. Always get the shivers after going to the loo. Still getting the muscle pains and taking the flu meds at 3/9/3/9 as clockwork. I feel better in the fresh air but it's just too cold outside. Tuesday 31st March. Wake up drenched. Feel much better after a shower. I cook a roast dinner and have a glass of wine. An hour after dinner I'm feeling poorly and have my first cough since the initial 24 hours. I chastize myself for having a glass of wine when I'm so dehydrated. Later I start to feel a tightness in my chest, and the diarrhea is back, but much worse than before. I'm starting to feel concerned, but I try to reassure myself that my breathing is ok and I have no probelems walking around. We stay up late and watch 4 back to back episodes of Big Little Lies, and then I get my 2-3 hours sleep, sleeping as upright as possible Wednesday 1st April. I wake up glad that the tightness in my chest is not feeling any worse than the day before, it's not feeling any better though. I stop watching the news and try to kill time playing endless Sporcle quizzes. I've completely lost my apetite and start to feel nauseus. I feel like i'm living every minute acutely aware of my symptons. Evenings always the worst. Thursday 2nd April. The muscle pain in my legs has gone. It's still there in my arms but not as bad as it was. Still taking the pain killers every 6 hours . I need to. I'm picking at tiny amounts of food. My diarrhea is still there. Friday 3rd April. I put a bagel in the toaster and I really struggle to finish it. I don't eat anything else till the evening when I force myself to eat a banana. I've felt a bit better, the weather is ok and I've played darts in the garage and fixed a new doorbell. I don't read much into it and sure enough as the temperature drops I get the shivers and I spend the next two hours trying to regulate the temperature and get rid of the shivers without going the other way. Saturday 4th April. I wake up at 4am. WOW I slept for over 4 hours and I'm not reaching for the pain killers. I take them anyway as a precaution. I go to the loo as normal and there is a bit of shivering, but it's less. As normal I struggle to get back to sleep, and struggle to find a comfortable body temperature. I run a bath. It's too hot so I lie in bed waiting for it to cool down. I fall asleep and wake up in a pool of sweat again. I weigh myself before I get in the bath and I've lost 7lbs. This time I feel much better. The muscle pain in my arms has gone, the tightness in the chest has gone, the nausea has gone and the appetite is coming back. I don't take pain killers at 9am for the first time in over a week, nor at 3pm. The cough is still there, and the nose is runny, and I won't know about the dry throat till this evening, but that's nothing compared to the rest. I feel confident enough to ring my parents and tell them I think I've recovered. |

If you think you have a chest infection, I think you should get antibiotics
|
|
By:
If you have chest infection then should definitely be getting ABS i did the same thing a couple of years ago, went on for weeks then was coughing up blood then admitted with pneumonia,if you have a proper chest infection it won't shift by itself.
|
|
By:
That's the way these infections seem to work. You think you're over it and along comes a horrible chest infection. I had one at the end of December which was the worst thing I've had in ages. The coughing was terrible & non-stop at times. It's only recently my chest has began to feel anywhere normal again. Have a slight asthmatic condition so sure don't want to catch Covid.

I find ibuprofen can help over time (but make sure to eat when taking it, ibuprofen can be vicious on the stomach).

hfink i had the same as you about 18 months ago doctor sent me to royal free they did all the test chest x/ray doctor then said i had a shadow on my lung neary s..t myself when she said that but she said the shadow was a infection she me antibiotics 625 8 days later i was o.k had a x/ray after 2 weeks lung all cleared up antibiotics 625 were brilliant
|
|
By:
Phew mad dog, that was good news. Nothing like the word 'shadow' in connection with lungs to make you scared, not surprised you nearly s**t yourself! I'm glad you came threw well. The antibiotics were fast acting there; I probably should have done the same and asked for some off the doc, but I have a fear of taking too many, as my stomach is not the greatest at the best of times (hiatus hernia issues). A bit silly really, I should have asked for some biotics rather than going through months with a chest problem.

By:
Hi casemoney, ah I see, that's understandable. My mother had h-pylori which brought on an ulcer, so she has the same problem with taking ibuprofen and anything similar. Glad to hear it cleared up, an ulcer would be a very worrying thing.

I have to say this even though I may regret it. I really don't like Drippen and think he's an obnoxious turd. I do hope he's ok though.
