Will Check the Durham Figures later when Available see how they have gone if another massive rise .....

I myself as a simple way of working out death ratio Would add a zero to those who tested positive ....

as a simple Figure , I would say 150000  have the virus  and sadly Those dead will almost certainly reach a 1000 today Sad

The positive is there could be a lot more with or who have the Virus ..

It won't be totally random since you have to apply to take the test, so you are more likely to apply if you think you've got the virus.  Only 15 of the 737 tested in hospital.  That will be an under representation because you are more likely to apply to take the test if you feel you have symptons, and the tests have found loads that are asymptomatic.  6.3% of our population is 4.4 million and we have twice as many deaths per million than Iceland.

Also if they have found 380 separate mutations, might explain the high death figures in Lombardy, and explain why so many people could be infected in the UK, without the super high death figures.  We could have less virulent mutations

Basically we are pissing in the wind, but I think the number of cases is far higher, and the death rate far lower, than generally accepted wisdom.

will you get this virus if you stay indoors without any contact with anyone ?

Ever had someone walk past your street door smoking, and you can smell the smoke?  (yes)... Then imo yes you can catch this virus indoors without contact with anyone.

i honestly don't think it occurs to most people they could be spreading it vaping   ...i gave it some thought a while back sitting in the garden  as the neighbor vapes  some days  and thought i was being paranoid

I'm always amazed when posters come up with ideas, e.g. vaping and smoking can spread the virus, without a shred of evidence, and talk like it's gospel. I was equally amazed when posters didn't say the virus was a real problem.

Charlie, I mentioned smoking because you can smell smoke.. You cant smell a cough. hth.

I doubt it Thegiggilo, touching stuff someone has coughed on and/or coughing would be my guess, not sure but likely imho

The point that someone coughed outside your door and "floated" i won't argue against,i won't be sure, plausible

When we breath on cold days, you can see waves of condensation leave our lungs. So this condensation wouldnt be contaminated with virus?.. I doubt it, but I'm no expert.

I'm only throwing it out the as well Emitdeb,i'm not sure,it is highly effectious though, the Spainish problem is largely blamed on the euro cup match against JuvE(?) so wondering was it coughed or just breathed myself.
By:
casemoney
When: 28 Mar 20 21:55
If that,s the case it Aiborne every time someone breaths ??

the condensation happens when the warm air Breath hits the cold ,I THINK ...

The new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 appears to be fairly easily spread. But the good news is that it's not among the most transmissible diseases out there.

The new coronavirus spreads mostly through person-to-person contact within about a 6-foot (1.8 meters) radius, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). People with COVID-19, which is the disease caused by the coronavirus, spread viral particles through coughing and sneezing. The particles can land in the mouths or noses of those nearby.

It might also be possible to catch SARS-CoV-2 by touching a surface where the virus has recently landed and then touching one's mouth, nose or eyes, but CDC officials believe this method of transmission is less common. Some coronaviruses can live on surfaces for days, but not much is known about the new coronavirus' ability to survive on surfaces. Fortunately, ethanol, hydrogen-peroxide or bleach-based cleaners are effective at killing those coronaviruses that do survive on surfaces.

Unlike some extremely contagious pathogens, the virus is not thought to spread via smaller droplets that can remain airborne for long periods of time. Measles, for example, can live in the air for hours after an infected person coughs or sneezes. This is not currently believed to be the case for SARS-CoV-2.

There is limited evidence that the new coronavirus can spread through feces as well. A small study of the stool samples of those diagnosed with COVID-19 found that viral particles in those stools looked viable under a microscope. "This means that stool samples may contaminate hands, food, water, etc.," the China CDC wrote in the report. For instance, if a person didn't wash their hands after touching a surface contaminated with infected stool residue, there's a chance they could become infected if they touch their eyes, nose or mouth with their hands, Live Science previously reported.

I tend to lean more of its longevity of staying on surfaces but won't discount that out of hand, i do btw wash my hands in contact with anything thro door etc,not much more you can do.

Should see our local hospital.

Patients stood right outside A&E entrance in pyjamas sometimes with some form of tubes while smoking, even though it's a non-smoking site.

Recent study that says Covid-19 does indeed remain viable in the air for at least 3 hours

Well, it would be pretty weird I think for any respiratory-based virus causing a pandemic if it didn't transfer in the most efficient and basic way

I haven't shaken it off yet, though symptons remain very mild for myself.  The blocked nose I had to start with has gone though.  Plenty of my wife's extended family have the symptons.  It seems to have started with my wife's sister who is a carer.  Brother in law texted me and said "we're finding that the symptons are fluctuating with severity so you might get very tired some days and have to just stay in bed"  I've not been so ill as to stay in bed (unlike the wife) but I do get the fluctuating bit.  Often felt completely fine and think I'm over it, then suddenly don't.  And the cycle repeats.
