Too many people do what the f**k they like, think it won't happen to them and laugh it off. If BoJo thinks 'Tean GB' will all pull together, he is a loon. They won't. They aren't. We live in a society so selfish and it aint going to change. The worse it gets the worse we see in people. It's every man for hinmself....Tell me I am wrong.

sunak.doris said last week money is no option, theyt have the money but not the staff so why don't they pay people to look after their parents, put their money where their mouths are
|

If you are in the vulnerable category then you will self-isolate as much as possible if you have any sense.
The government strategy relies on those showing symptoms also self isolating for a couple of weeks, this is the key. If enough people do this then it has a chance of working. |
|
By:
so how does that help 40 million to get infected for their herd plan,

exactly foinavon
at 27 I am filling the letter box and putting the black out curtains up I am battling for that position - elimination is your fete - ewe have know idea watt you have taken on prepare four battle |
|
By:
The idea is to spread the number of cases requiring treatment over a longer period to reduce peak demand. Eventually it will get to the point where the transmission rate dies down since most people have already had it.

YOU PIck up on this - what a 'CASE' is
I have a cough and had a nasty headache all afternoon not been good most of the week but now feel good after a kip and now on my third london pride |

The over 70's to be isolated for 4 months, while the rest of us build up the herd immunity.
|
|
By:
we no the idea ,but if everyone who has it is either self isolating or in hospital how do 40/50 million catch it,and if they do 100.,000 plus die, using their number,s 500.000
how can anyone hope to micro manage 50 million cases, were struggling nowwith maybe up to 100,000 cases as we speak doris begging for ventilators from around the world ,should be ok no other country needs them at this time ![]() ,begging for beds off the private sector |
|
By:
Foinavon, trying to push out peak demand for treatment is the approach of many governments.
The differences come in the methods deployed to achieve this. |
|
By:
That's just a cold and an hangover Mo.

instead of mugging the Chinese 3 months ago for their handling he should have been swapping hancocks fridges for ventilators on ebay,

What would a working approach look like

we need to fk off the chinese govt big time for starters
but hitting their trade as usual also hits the small time people how do you get to the politburo? |
|
By:
there are of course south american soccerball markets
|
|
By:
The government seem to think they have a better plan. If infected people self isolate the transmission rate will go down
If vulnerable groups reduce risk of exposure the death rate will go down as will the load on the NHS. Sounds logical, we will see how it works out before long. |
|
By:
Foinavon, you have to give the Italians another at least 12 days imo to see if it has "worked"
Boris's eyes are haunted, rightly imo,i have no agenda,i am calling it as i see it. |

I didn't realise there was any footy today Mo then I noticed that Notts County won 4-0. That would have been a nice game to play. Not sure about S. America, don't have a feel for it.

The Italian experiment is interesting. If, as we would expect, transmission rates start to fall we then have to see what happens when they take the restrictions off. Do the rates stay low or accelerate again? Keep the brakes on too long and the country goes bankrupt.

People over 70 will be instructed by the government to stay in strict isolation at home or in care homes for four months, under a "wartime-style" mobilisation effort by the government likely to be enforced within the next 20 days.
It is part of a series of measures being prepared by the prime minister, health secretary, chief medical officer and chief scientific adviser to prevent the health service from "falling over" and to save lives as Covid-19 becomes an epidemic in the UK. Other measures already being planned include: the forced requisitioning of hotels and other buildings as temporary hospitals; the requisitioning of private hospitals as emergency hospitals; temporary closure of pubs, bars and restaurants - some time after next weekend's ban on mass gatherings; emergency manufacture by several companies of respirators that would be necessary to keep alive those who become acutely ill; the closure of schools for perhaps a few weeks, but with skeleton staff kept on to provide childcare for key workers in the NHS and police.. Why wait twnety days, just close the schoold down now,the kids will all have it in 20 days.. |
|
By:
call me a thicko one more time
if the transmission rate goes down who do they infect 40/50 million people for theiur grand plan, currently their numbers say 10,000 are infected |
|
By:
Boris being guided by the medical profession as will all leaders.
Boris's eyes are haunted Getting criticised for showing concern for the nation? |
|

So Foinavon is Boris making these decisions because they(UK) don't want to be bankrupt either?

I don't think the Italians want to bankrupt their country either, They could end up with the worst of both worlds.
