He is devastated btw, Dewsbury went back to the Conservatives for the first time since Labour pinched it with boundary changes. But he can get angry about it over a pint without insulting anyone.

'Stop whinging!' Deluded Lib Dems viciously MOCKED after vowing to STILL stop Brexit

THE Liberal Democrats sparked a hilarious wave of criticism after claiming it would continue to fight Brexit - despite Prime Minister Boris Johnson winning a crunch vote in Parliament on the UK’s EU exit on Friday.

Deluded. Off with their heads.

Steve Baker MP: There is widespread abuse of postal votes, this simply cannot go on

I believe the overwhelming majority of my constituents would be shocked if they knew the extent of corrupt election practices and voter fraud which happen each time there is an election. I want open and lawful elections, upholding the principle that every entitled voter should have one vote, and cast it freely.

It is to ensure those who govern are properly democratically accountable for what they do. There can be no question of disenfranchising anyone, nor of constraining legitimate political discourse. Since the legitimacy of political power rests on the consent of the public, expressed at the ballot box, action is required.

There's without any doubt a Postal Vote fraud in operation in every election on the line very similar to that happened in Tower Hamlets. And, for any disbeliever there's absolutely no harm/injustice as there's nothing to be gained or lost introducing ID at Polling Station or ID for each Postal Vote application eg National Insurance/Passport/etc. Anyone unable to will have to vote in person at a Pooling Station or ineligible to vote. No one in this country 18yrs or above will possess a form of ID regardless.

In some countries like South/South East Asia a thump print is another form of ID verification - this is fool-proof.

Speaker Lindsay Hoyle: Big Ben can bong for Brexit

The new Commons Speaker has said he would allow Big Ben to ring out to mark Brexit, as he pledged not to let his political views cloud his decisions.

Sir Lindsay Hoyle said the great bell in Parliament's Elizabeth Tower should be rung on Jan 31 if MPs "wish to do that", stating that the UK's formal departure from the EU on Jan 31 will be a "significant moment".

His comments mark a significant break from the approach of his predecessor, who, since stepping down has described Brexit as Britain's biggest mistake since the Second World War.

Boris Johnson gets White House invitation

President Donald Trump has invited Boris Johnson to visit him in the Oval Office as part of a Brexit victory lap in the new year.

The prime minister has been invited to make an official visit to America with his girlfriend Carrie Symonds as formal transatlantic trade negotiations begin after Britain leaves the European Union on January 31.

£2m for a one-off "Independence" celebration instead of £8bn annually for the last 20 years and more is a very small drop-in-the-ocean. And, it should be repeated each time we signed another trade deal.

Hard to know if Kuenssberg is telling the truth after the spurious claim during the election.

She's probably perfect for the far right nutters on here - telling lies to further a toxic agenda. wac

I posit that company directors are more likely to be middle class toffs and are, therefore, biased by the election result. 952 is too small of a sample size to draw any conclusions. The poll is flawed and meaningless imo. According to the Iod website, it's about 60/40 (if I read it right)

3 years basically means post-referendum; a tacit acknowledgement that brexit has been a disaster for the country.

The article is interesting though. I see that "Uncertain trading status with the EU" is one of their biggest concerns.

Britain said on Monday it would increase the number of scientists and researchers eligible for fast-track visas, part of the government's plans to attract more elite researchers after Brexit.

The number of eligible fellowships which offer accelerated endorsement for visas will rise to more than 120 from 62, the interior ministry said.

"We want to make sure the UK continues to be at the forefront of innovation, so we need an immigration system that attracts the sharpest minds from around the globe," interior minister Priti Patel said.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who won approval for his Brexit deal in parliament last week, made a pledge in August to relax immigration rules for scientists to help Britain address its skills shortages.

Britain is due to leave the European Union on January 31 although it will

Boris Johnson's jaunty Christmas message contrasts with rueful Corbyn

Contrast in tone as jaunty PM and rueful Labour leader pay tribute to NHS and other staff

Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn have paid tribute to NHS staff and other public servants working through the holidays in their annual Christmas messages.

While the two leaders both praised the efforts of those putting their celebrations on hold to look after others, the tone of their messages could hardly have been more different.

The prime minister began his video with a jaunty: “Hi folks, Boris Johnson here, taking a moment to wish you all a merry little Christmas.”

And he signed off breezily, urging people to enjoy the next few days, adding: “Try not to have too many arguments with the in-laws – or anyone else.”

In contrast, Corbyn, in what will almost certainly be his last Christmas message as Labour leader, reflected ruefully on his catastrophic defeat while expressing his hope for a “better world”.

“This has been a difficult year for many of us. We didn’t succeed in delivering the change that so many people so desperately need,” he said. “But Christmas is a chance to listen, reflect and remember all the things that bind us together: our compassion, our determination to tackle injustice and our hope for a better world.”

Corbyn said it was a time of year when “the scale of injustice and inequality is in very plain sight”, and he praised those working in food banks and emergency shelters helping the less fortunate.

“While we celebrate being together, we are reminded of the many who will be alone and sadly lonely at Christmas,” he said. “But our communities are built on generosity and the solidarity that comes from that. So we do not walk by on the other side.”

Johnson, who will be spending his first Christmas as prime minister in Downing Street with his girlfriend, Carrie Symonds, thanked those in the NHS, the police and other public services who would be working over the holiday, as well as military personnel on deployment.

He also spoke of the Christians around the world who were facing persecution for their beliefs. “For them, Christmas Day will be marked in private, in secret, perhaps even in a prison cell,” he said.

“As prime minister, that’s something I want to change. We stand with Christians everywhere, in solidarity, and will defend your right to practise your faith. So as a country, let us reflect on the year and celebrate the good that is to come.”

An increase of 60 high earning people with elite skills is not nearly enough. You'll get that many non earning migrants coming in lorries in a day.
