BORIS JOHNSON’S Brexit Britain will be among the world's leading powerhouse economies throughout the next ten years, a major new report predicts today. UK finances, manufacturing and services are so fundamentally strong that the country is set to stay near the top of the international economic league table and will dwarf France’s economy.

And as wealth floods in from a massive trade deal with America, the Prime Minister can look forward to spearheading the nation’s economy throughout what some have already dubbed the “Roaring Twenties”.  The latest revised data from the Centre for Economic and Business Research suggests that despite the uncertainty over Brexit, the French economy failed to overtake the UK economy in the 2016-19 period. It now expects that by 2034 the British economy will be a quarter larger than the French economy. The details are set out today in the CEBR’s latest update of the annual World Economic League Table (WELT).

The USA tops the table, with Britain coming sixth. Others in the top ten are China (2), Japan(3), Germany (4), India (5), France (7), Italy (8), Brazil (9) and Canada (10).

The upbeat picture of the UK's future outside the EU comes as the Prime Minister looks to tie up a host of lucrative trade deals throughout next year.

Top of the list, once Britain leaves the EU on January 31, is a multi-trillion pound super-trade deal with the USA.

Mr Johnson and US President Donald Trump are set to meet within weeks to strike the much-vaunted deal.

Britain is also negotiating its future trading relationship with the EU. Mr Johnson has vowed this will be sewn up by the end of 2020

Deals with Australia, Japan and Norway, among others, are also expected to flood in once Britain is free from the shackles of Brussels.

The widely respected CEBR notes this month’s “decisive election result” and highlights the need for the Government to “sort out the country’s future trading relationships”.

And it points out that Britain’s economy continued to grow throughout 2019 despite the Brexit deadlock.

“Despite fluctuations around inventories as various deadlines for leaving the EU came

and went, UK growth continued during 2019 at close to trend rate and the euphoria associated with ending the Brexit paralysis and the decisive defeat of a hard-left Labour party candidate in the December 2019 election could revive inward investment in 2020,” it states.

But the biggest challenge which the UK could face in the early 2020s, the report states, could be maintaining cohesion – with the argument over Scottish independence remaining a headache for Mr Johnson.

The WELT ranks the UK at nine in the world for ease of doing business, well above most other European countries.

And the CEBR expects Britain’s economy to grow annually by 1.9 percent from 2019 to 2024 and by 1.5 percent each year between 2024 and 2034.

But these figures do not include any future trade deals which could boost the economy further.

Cebr Deputy Chairman Douglas McWilliams said: “The World Economic League Table 2020 tracks relative economic progress.

'The biggest surprise is how well the US economy has managed to do, reaching its highest share of world GDP for 12 years.

“Though our view is that it has reached its high water mark and moving forward the deficit and its trade disputes will start to hold it back. Still, this is a remarkable performance for an old world economy. ”

Other indicators are signalling that confidence in the economy is surging now that Britain is on course to leave the EU next month.

Business confidence has soared to its highest level for more than three years, according to a survey of almost 1000 company directors.

The study conducted by the Institute of Directors (IoD) found confidence in the economic outlook had swung 39 percent points, from the red into the green, between November and December. The confidence indicator, which measures the net balance between firms that are optimistic against those who are pessimistic, had been languishing in the negatives since the spring of 2018.

Tej Parikh, the chief economist at the IoD, said: “Britain’s directors will be entering 2020 with a little more festive cheer than might have been expected only a few weeks ago.”

It comes as the latest official figures showed the UK economy grew at a faster pace than initially thought in the third quarter of the year.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said output between July and September was boosted by better growth in services and construction than measured in its earlier readings.

It revised growth to 0.4 percent from 0.3 percent - taking the annual rate of growth to 1.1 percent. Economists had expected no change.

Mr Johnson has promised a new "golden age" for Britain during the next  10 years following the tories election landslide.

The PM said his blueprint for the country would bring trade deals around the world to boost UK jobs, 40 new hospitals, excellent schools in every community and "the biggest transformation of our infrastructure since the Victorian age."

During a recent call Mr Johnson and the US President discussed their wish to secure an "ambitious" post-Brexit trade deal.

The US ambassador to Britain said last week that the country will enter the “Roaring Twenties” once Brexit is delivered at the end of next month.

Ambassador Robert 'Woody' Johnson said Brexit was a “really amazing opportunity for this country”.

“You have a clear direction, you have really good leadership fired up to get something done.

“So yes, a Roaring Twenties, absolutely,” he said.

The original Roaring Twenties refers to the 1920s when a period of economic prosperity was seen in cities such as London, New York, Paris and Berlin and an artistic peak was reached following the bleakness of the First World War.

The Treasury is planning to rip up decades-old public spending rules in an effort to boost economic wellbeing in the north and the Midlands.

Under proposals being drawn up before the spring budget, ministers will reassess how officials calculate the value for money of government investments in transport infrastructure, business development and initiatives such as free ports.

Investment decisions would be less focused on overall national economic growth and, for the first time, Whitehall resources would be allocated on the basis of improving the wellbeing of people in the north, or narrowing the productivity gap with the south.

MIGRANTS BENEFITS BILL EU migrants in Britain claimed more than £4bn a year in benefits

Migrants from Eastern Europe received more in welfare than the average UK citizen — and paid less income tax, figures show

EU migrants in Britain claimed more than £4billion a year in benefits.

Those from Eastern Europe received more in welfare than the average UK citizen — and paid less income tax.

Ex-Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith said it was no surprise that officials did not want to release the figures

In the run-up to the Brexit referendum, ministers had insisted the figures were not available.

But the cost of open doors migration has now been revealed.

Data from the Department for Work and Pensions, taxman and Treasury shows EU workers received more than £2.2billion in tax credits and housing benefits, £1.1billion in out-of-work payments and £700million in child benefit.

There is a stark contrast between Western and Eastern Europeans.

Nearly half the personal taxes paid by migrants from countries such as Romania, Bulgaria and Poland went straight back in tax credits and child benefit.

DWP figures were not broken down by country.

But if they followed a similar distribution, then almost all of the taxes went back in working-age benefit.

FEELING BLUE Young Tories suffer shocking racial abuse and even death threats for backing Boris Johnson

YOUNG Tories have revealed how they face vile racial abuse and even death threats for backing Boris Johnson.

The activists, as young as 18, are targeted by hate-filled far-left trolls - with one teen told her mum would be drenched in petrol and set on fire.

While Brits up and down the country celebrated the PM's stonking election win, Conservative campaigners like Bhav Popat suffered shocking slurs.

Bhav, 21, was told to “bleach” her skin and “repent” to socialism after she campaigned for Tory candidate Darren Henry in Broxtowe, Notts.

Ms Popat, part of young Tory activism group Blue Beyond, told SunOnline: “I always get hate for being a Tory, for being a brown Tory, but since the election I’ve been more vocal and I get targeted messages.

“I get told how I should f***k off back to India and how I need to search for my soul - it’s constant."

Bhav, who has been a Tory supporter since she was 16, also claims she was attacked by Labour campaigners.

She said: “I got called a Tory c**t."

“While I was on the doorstep a white woman parked her car and spoke to me about ‘how I can be brown and a Tory?”

“On Twitter, someone else told me bleach my skin and my hair and said even then the Tories won’t accept me.

“It’s horrific.”

Emily Hewertson, 19, became a viral sensation after she appeared on the BBC’s Question Time, blasting Tory MPs for not getting Brexit done, back in May last year.

The teenager has since become an outspoken political commentator online, campaigning for Conservatives candidate Zac Goldsmith, but has been subjected to disgusting attacks on social media.

Emily said: “I receive abuse all the time.

"A lot of people decide to target my looks saying I should stop talking about politics and stick to the prosecco, or go to Love Island instead.

"The worst bit of abuse I’ve ever had was the other night, when I go into my DMs on Twitter and someone says ‘If I ever see you on the streets I would throw petrol over you and set you on fire.

"‘And then I'll find out where your mum lives and do the same.’”

"I couldn’t believe it."

"It’s ironic that a lot of people sending me this hate, especially from women, describe themselves as feminists.

"It’s like, they’re only feminists if people agree with their politics."

Has Ahmed, 23, is a Tory member and former candidate in local council elections in East London.

He was targeted by a man when out campaigning during the election, who told him “go to a white f*****g country”.

Has often suffers a barrage of abuse online with trolls suggesting he is a traitor because he is Muslim who votes Conservative.

He told SunOnline: “[People think] Because you’re brown, because you’re Pakistani, because you’re Muslim – you should be voting for Labour on the ballot paper – and I choose to disagree with all that.

“I have been alienated by friends.

"I suppose being called 'sell-off' by the normal people I used to speak is far worse than someone [you don't know] shouting at you and screaming at you because of your beliefs.

Traitor, sell-off, coconut, Uncle Tom, all these words, which even now, when I speak about them really affect me.

Has Ahmed
“If you say you are part of the Conservative Party there are hundreds and hundreds of trolls messaging you every day with nasty comments and to be honest with you, words have an impact.

“I read the comments, everybody else reads the comments too.

“And you start to think: ‘this is horrible stuff’.

He adds: “Traitor, sell-off, coconut, Uncle Tom, all these words, which even now, when I speak about them really affect me.

Amber Dunbar, 23, from Moray in Scotland, said her friend had been subjected to death threats for supporting the Conservatives.

She said: “I find I have to put my Twitter on private – because your mentions get so full of things that aren’t nice to read.

“I have to let things blow over for a few days – but you shouldn’t have to do that. I understand that your political opinions come under scrutiny.

“But you should be able to talk about what you believe in.

“I’ve never had death threats, but I’ve had friends who have.

“I would never attack someone for their political beliefs.”

Jake William, 18, from Derbyshire, said that as a gay Tory supporter he feels like “everything is against” him.

He told SunOnline: “I have to hide it away a bit with certain people, because you don’t want them to say anything.

And it goes on and on...

Could Boris be the first Prime Minister in decades to honour his commitment — and properly invigorate the North?

HE promised he would invest in the North. And two weeks into being PM, it seems that Boris Johnson has stuck to his word.

To make it easier to spend outside London and the South East, the Treasury has been re-writing economic guidelines, according to reports.

Future investments will be focussed on reducing inequality between the North and South, as opposed to promoting the UK’s overall economic growth. It’s a start, at least, in tackling the terrible economic divisions in this country.

Take transport. In London, £903 per year is allocated for each person’s transport versus £376 per head in the North. Now this epic injustice looks set to end.

There are also talks of moving huge numbers of governmental jobs outside London. Sites in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland would completely alter the landscape of the UK’s workforce.

Johnson knew he’d have an enormous challenge on his hands becoming PM, and having to keep his new army of ex Labour-supporting voters on board.

He promised £100bn of infrastructure by 2025 in the Tory manifesto to make matters even more complicated.

But for all the vicious slurs from his enemies about his honesty, could Boris be the first Prime Minister in decades to honour his commitment — and properly invigorate the North?

Brexit revolution: Boris plans £800m research facility to give UK technological edge

THE Government is pressing ahead with a pioneering, £800million agency tasked with developing top-secret technologies to give Britain the edge when it comes to defence and security at the dawn of a new decade.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has pledged to double research and development spending to £18billion within five years in what he has termed a “new wave of economic growth” after Brexit, with plans also afoot to create a centre of scientific excellence modelled on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), to be based in the North. His plans will include an advanced research projects agency analogous to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) in the US, which was launched in 1958 in response to the Soviet Union’s successful launch of the Sputnik satellite, which caused considerable alarm in Washington.
