This brings to a total of six the number of Ship of Fools expeditions where weather reality has made a mockery of climate theory. According to Maritime Bulletin: Arctic tours ship MS MALMO with 16 passengers on board got stuck in ice on Sep 3 off Longyearbyen, Svalbard Archipelago, halfway between Norway and the North Pole. The ship is on Arctic tour with Climate Change documentary film team, and tourists, concerned with Climate Change and melting Arctic ice. All 16 Climate Change warriors were evacuated by helicopter in challenging conditions, all are safe. 7 crew remains on board, waiting for Coast Guard ship assistance. The reporter, Erofey Schkvarkin clearly has a sense of humor. He adds: Something is very wrong with Arctic ice, instead of melting as ordered by UN/IPCC, it captured the ship with Climate Change Warriors. It appears the mainstream media has failed to get the memo. Here is a tweet from Reuters which appeared after the ship got stuck in ice. |

also I was looking at a graph with steeply rising temps (at least the graph made it steep) when I notice a steep downturn I am waiting for a few more months to see how this develops as I have been reading about a change in other influences on temperature - come back in 6 months or so to see how this turns out I could be wrong of course. This is something that the Global Warming Inquisitors will never say - they are 100 percent right every time. Except for the dozens of predictions that have failed to happened. |

Stop posting lies. Provide a link to your BS stories. Are you aware the concern is about temperature rising by another 1-2C in next few decades. How will anybody be able to detect that without a thermometer but by doing some occasional siphon bathing & saying it is hot. We would expect sea ice in the Arctic- a boat getting stuck in ice tgat far north is hardly news let alone "evidence " . Once again I suggest you use thermometers rather than boats & bears to measure temperature. |

Although measurements are rather hard to come by, it is clear that the Southern Ocean surrounding Antarctica has warmed a few tenths of a degree (C) since 1900.
This is known from sporadic explorer records, such as Scott and Shackleton, and then with much more confidence after the instrumentation program from the international geophysical year in 1957-8. Even a slight ocean warming results in a substantial increase in the moisture flux over the cold Antarctic continent, where, with the exception of over the Antarctic Peninsula (the portion of the continent that juts out towards South America), all precipitation falls as snow. Increasing the moisture would, therefore, increase the snow load which should increase the ice mass balance, which is why I find this result (and Jay Zwally’s) not particularly surprising. Nonetheless: The WAIS experienced a significant loss of ice in the 19th century when it was colder than the 20th-century average. The WAIS experienced a significant gain in ice in the 20th century and early 21st century when it was warmer than the 19th-century average. The gain in ice in the last 110 years was 2.8 times the loss in the 19th century. Apparently, this isn’t newsworthy or even Google-worthy. |

CO2 in air is like a sand-clay mixture in stagnant water, settling into layers based on weight. CO2 is a gas, which is like a collection of zillions of hard bouncy balls whose kinetic energy comes from the overall temperature. When CO2 is mixed with other gases, they all bounce against each other so fast that the heavier ones never have any time to settle out. In scientific terms, CO2 is subject to entropy of mixing, meaning that once it mixes with non-CO2 molecules it can’t unmix. There are any number of studies of CO2 atmospheric distribution that show CO2 stays mixed all the way to the stratopause. If CO2 didn’t mix with non-CO2 fast, you wouldn’t be able to lie on your stomach without suffocating, since your breath is 38K ppm or higher CO2, and the lethal concentration starts at about 50K ppm. Trap heat as a greenhouse gas? Sorry, being thoroughly mixed with non-CO2 molecules, every time a CO2 molecule gets hotter than its neighbors, they sap the extra heat to equalize temperatures. The air as a whole conducts solar heat at Earth’s surface and convects it towards space, and CO2 is just trapped in the rest of the air and goes along with it. Hence the Earth’s atmosphere is not a greenhouse but a giant chimney, and all the elaborate claims of CO2 greenhouse warming theory are somewhat twisted - but then you global warmists love to twist. |
