Seeing her reactions in general and to the arrival of trump at the UN were pretty amusing.
There is of course a constant; that childhood innocence gets poisoned when they have to look after themselves, and idealism tends to fall by the wayside. The poison that effects us all is the ideology that forces everyone to run from the machine, that greed is good and everyone has to play with no alternatives. It would be interesting to see where she is in ten years, but that’s not to say there isn’t an element of truth to her stance. Even The Economist agree that global warming is man made and they are nuts deep into capitalism and the worship of markets as Devine beings. The race to extract all resources, burn anything combustible for energy conversion, nationalistic short termist principles that legitimises known contributing actions, consumerism as a disease, opportunism as a virtue, lying investment agendas, a series of broken political systems, stock and capital holders’ interests etc etc all these things get shaped into a narrative that’s more palatable; that ‘GDP needs to keep rising’. As a result people get forced to buy ‘bags for life’ (when it was the supermarkets that implemented plastic bags and a ‘stack em high mentality’) or to change the type of straws they use (I haven’t used a straw since I was Greta’s age ffs) It’s state level activity that needs to be addressed not individuals farting under the duvets, but that won’t happen because every country is too divided, too poisoned by self interest and too obsessed with money. |

People should read William Rees-Mogg’s book ‘The Sovereign Individual’, it’s actually a very good book even if, like me, you disagree with it’s central premise and ultimate goal.
(Politics in this country has always been riddled with stooges placed in parliament as lobbyists for a given cause, the Jews had the Rothschilds, The sugar baron’s slavery apologists had Drax, the list is actually excessive) I believe William’s son, Jacob is such a thing with an agenda to take down politics as his father envisioned, but from the inside.The literal manifestation of an enemy of the state, and a talking snake all in one. However, in the book Jacob’s father raises a very interesting notion that I can’t recall reading before; that the story of Adam and Eve’s expulsion from Eden was a metaphor created in the period of man’s second age (the four ages being, Hunter gather, agricultural, industrial and information) The theory is that paradise was the world of the hunter taking what was required and largely doing little else, and the transition into the hard life of the agricultural revolution lead to the difficult life of a farmer, hence paradise lost. We also know that it was the Industrial Age that f ucked up the environment, which has largely been transitioned into the Information Age. Nothing will stop the Industrial Age acting out to its natural conclusion in the places which have a legitimate argument to do the things the first world already have, and non of the rich countries will subsidise the likes of India to encourage them to stop....so it’s a pointless task arguing about global warming, it’s an unstoppable train. The only solace is that some future generation fixes it through science....or they die, either way, if religion can blame me for Eve’s transgression against god then why not the future spawn for our grandafther’s excesses? |
