he said he knew reporting restrictions would not be lifted for another 6 months or so

Then I apologise . I was unaware that he said that and didn't see it in the transcript Blush

So it seems only TR named the defendants and the BBC, Sky etc did not?

Maybe some on here need to do some research. Everything he reported was already in the public domain.

^^^^^^ Which is basically the essence of my 9.24 post .

these polish blokes that were sentenced today had had reporting restrictions too, because
of a previous trial.

and like the rape gangs there will still be a load of victims yet to come forward.

So he was reporting the rapists going in for sentencing using information that was already in the public domain, well fck me stiff it's even worse than I thought.

All the defendants had already been named by the BBC etc.

At the last hearing, Tommy's lawyers listed over 300 journalists who had reported on the case including names of the accused and the charges against them.

One of the charges he's been found guilty of is "Causing the defendants (in this case 29 child rapists) anxiety and distress" . Reporting restrictions or not , surely the mainstream media's representatives were commintting the same crime when accosting him en route to the Old Bailey yesterday . Like I said , all are equal before the law !

no, the jury had not given a verdict.
By:
Reynard
When: 05 Jul 19 22:09
Injera - In fairness the other 300 journalists are not considered to be 'Enemies of the State' and therefore there is absolutely no political will to have them prosecuted Devil

What a fckin shambles.
By:
Reynard
When: 05 Jul 19 22:11
.............. and there we have it . A total and absolute shambles which , if it was occurring in any other sovereign state on the planet would be deemed headline news by the BBC , ITV , Ch4 etc !

I thought when TR filmed they had been found guilty and were being given their sentence ?
By:
Reynard
When: 05 Jul 19 22:17
They had , Ibrahima , but let's not allow facts to get in the way of a good assassination , eh ? Mischief
By:

the jury had not delivered a verdict.

yaxley lennon stated that he stated on his video that they were innocent
until proven guilty and said he made that clear in his video.
By:

I think , and I may be wrong , the jury had returned their verdict but it hadn't been 'delivered' .

i can be wrong too

the case is well reported, and some facts are clear..
By:

I'm glad to hear that . I'd hate to think I'm debating a topic with people less open-minded than myself lol

TR filmed when they were going in for the verdict, still dont understand how a live video could had affected the outcome that was in place.
By:
tobermory
When: 05 Jul 19 22:41
which case was it that he filmed on ? The reports don't make that clear
By:
Reynard
When: 05 Jul 19 22:41
However , I understand that reporting restrictions only apply to information that is not already in the public domain eg. BBC website .

Ibrahima - that's what I was led to believe . The jury had returned their verdict but the judge hadn't delivered it . you--have--to--laugh seems to know different Confused
By:
DenzilPenberthy
When: 05 Jul 19 22:41
That's even without the 300+ journalists and the broadcasters who'd already reported on it before TR,still no explanation as to why the others aren't in bother.
By:
Reynard
When: 05 Jul 19 22:43
Denzil - as I posted earlie , there is no political will to prosecute them . Therefore one can only conclude that this case is politically motivated !
By:
tobermory
When: 05 Jul 19 22:43
It's not the case that reporting restrictions cannot apply once names are made public. The restrictions can be put in place after that.
By:
Reynard
When: 05 Jul 19 22:44
Thanks for enlightening me on that fact , tobermory Happy
By:
----you-have-to-laugh---
When: 05 Jul 19 22:45
reporting restrictions were in place because some of the accused
were on trial in a future case alongside some other defendants.

thats why he wasnt allowed to video them and broadcast the video.

the jury were still deliberating whilst he was filming, so yeah, they
could not see the video live.

Can't find any other reasons without being too sinister.

So Tommy Robinson is the only person to have reported on this case AFTER restrictions came in or not?
By:
Reynard
When: 05 Jul 19 22:51
That is irrelevent , If the state wanna go after someone for political reasons , they will get 'em regardless of facts or evidence . Today's verdict has proven that .
By:

When: 05 Jul 19 22:52
I'm only amazed that the Attourney General ruled in his favour last July . Still can't work that one out tbh Confused
