I don't think kids these days take much notice of anybody.

The majority were there simply for the day off if the truth's known.

There is the Paris World Climate Agreement.

We encourage people to use less energy.

It is more than just a left or right issue.

The truth is nobody knows anything for certain,

but there is a general concern over our use of hydro carbons?

I wander how many of these protesting children would give up all their modern trappings and go and live in a wattle and daub hut or something. Central heating, electricity, transport, mass produced goods. It's the modern lifestyle that's given rise to Man Made Climate Change (if such a thing exists)

Which makes these protests nothing more than hippo critical nonsense. An empty gesture.

Well that is true to an extent..get me a drink

But we are going to have to do it long term, sometime?

Hydro Carbons are not going to last forever

I know none of us wants to give up all our modern gadgets

But one day we may have to. we need to think about it

just my own opinion

I wonder how many of these kids or their mentors have given up eating meat?

That's the first question I'd put to them, strangely despite all the air time they were given I never heard it mentioned.

and if kids bothered to educate themselves they,d no theres millions of older generation  who use public transport, don't spent all their lives in takeways, dont have to have the latest electrical gadget, go to great lengths smart metres, water metres,to cut down their energy use, never set foot on an aeroplane ,and have a carbon  footprint these snotty little upstarts could only dream of,
and the worst thing about yesterday not one single adult[maybe one on sky ],had the balls to stand up to these middle class snowflakes and bent over like subservient waifs, without even attempting to educate them about industry, jobs, households, rely on a continuation of fosil fuels for decades to come

how dare they worry about their future, little brats.
also all they ever do is play on their phones and just
don't care about the real world, except when they do.
then they are a disgrace.

Can't be bothered reading the thread as I found the whole thing pathetic.
And politicians praising them for playing truant beggars belief.
Might take them serious if they did it on a Saturday and also refused a lift to school and walked.

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day, just you and me

sing it with me aka, keeping it time will be awkward but how we feel is all that matters.

Little children should be seen and not heard.
That's the first thing they should be taught.
Never been the same since they stopped giving the strap.
Bet the wee feckers wouldn't be so brave if the strap was still on the go.
By:
northanlite
When: 16 Feb 19 23:28
you must be a Scot. The strap was a good way of getting out of detention.
i got the belt a lot in early school years. never after 15, it was tried but
i wasn't having it, plus i had a march to got to

We had a teacher that made you put your hands up with the knuckles showing. Was much more painful that way.
Nobody rebelled and just took it although I did hear a story after I left that one of the pupils punched him.
By:
northanlite
When: 16 Feb 19 23:52
fairly sure that was illegal but so was our insane PE teacher taking a jump at it. insane & luckily not me.
i would never punch a teacher, in school, but we came to an understanding that my days of the strap were
over.
did you get the belt in primary? in retrospect that seemed unnecessary. i got the strap a few times but why?
i'm suing the council for PTSD
By:

When: 17 Feb 19 00:09
It was a PE teacher I was talking about as well.
Nothing happened to the pupil so the teacher probably knew he was on thin ground.
At our primary only the head teacher could give the strap but I can't remember anyone getting it.

kid in my school cut his hand really badly in metal work. hospital, stitched up
many weeks later out the blue he gets called up to the front of the class
with no explanation and belted 3 times on the same hand, not the injured one.
his folks kicked up merry hell but the tech teacher insisted it was a way of
ensuring those accidents don't happen again.
to be fair the teacher that did it got the bullet and was questioned by the police.
that must have been when PC culture started. skin em alive i say

Ludicrous to think that any boy worried about getting the cane , if the schoolboy misbehaved , as all boys should from time to time , it was a sign that the boy was normal that’s all
By:
lfc1971
When: 17 Feb 19 08:38
It’s certainly not normal behaviour for any schoolboy to be going on these sort of marches
something not right about boys like that
