The French had the right idea with Devils Island.
Mingulay would fit the bill. |

Was Dreyfus not pardoned and acquitted of all charges?
|
|
By:
I may actually have underestimated his rehabilitation
On 12 July 1906, Dreyfus was officially exonerated by a military commission. The day after his exoneration, he was readmitted into the army with a promotion to the rank of major (Chef d'Escadron). A week later, he was made Knight of the Legion of Honour,[6] and subsequently assigned to command an artillery unit at Vincennes. On 15 October 1906, he was placed in command of another artillery unit at Saint-Denis. |

Perhaps one way out would be to acknowledge is as a real state, and give it a piece of land 100mx100m on a rock in the atlantic They have many small established caliphates right across Europe if you look at places like Dewsbury Oldham St Denis Malmo and hundreds of others. One day they will join the dots up. |

No, but I was pointing out that Devils Island was a bad example given the case of it's most famous deportee.
|
|
By:
We had a bad idea with Elba, that's why we sent the notorious Corsican rabble rouser to St Helena for a second offence.

By:
Well substitute Rothesay for Devils Island.

Have to laugh at the 'she was only 15 and didn't know what she was doing' brigade.
Knew enough to travel through various countries to get to her destination. |
|
By:
I had a conversation with someone today on this subject . He said that in her defence she was technically only a child (15) when she committed the offence of joining ISIS . I pointed out that for the last 2 years she has technically been an adult (18/19) so what is her defence now ?
........ silence ......... |

BBC News this morning have gone back to calling Islamic State, "so called Islamic State"
Trying to pretend that they are not a real organisation |
|
By:
We should issue her with an Islamic State passport.
|
|
By:
I dont think the Islamic State is a British colony yet.

A helpful guide as to how the Jihadist Begum might go about winning British Lefty hearts. (Well, those who aren't already swooning over her).
|
By:
Corbyn must have read the above guide already, as he has now predictably fallen firmly in line behind Jihadist Begum.
The Labour Leadership again completely at odds with UK public opinion, apart from that Special Community which now constitutes his core voting group. He will do what it takes to preserve that block vote. . https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/jeremy-corbyn-says-shamima-begum-14031954 |
|
By:
Corby wants her back lol soon there will be just him and Diane left in the awful party this man really is the pits
|
|
By:
The traitors in the SNP are also as expected backing her, and the Green woman on politics live wanted her "home". The Greens of course had a manifesto policy that being a member of such organisations shouldn't itself be a crime as long as you weren't "acting" upon it .. yet.
I'm sure quite a few votes are being won for the Tories with, for once, doing the right thing. |
|
By:
DOesnt matter what you think, the EU law means she be housed in the uk shortly.
i think you mean the european convention on human rights which is overseen by the council of europe in strasbourg, it is nothing to do with the eu whatsoever. it cannot make binding laws but it does uphold agreements that its members have signed up to. |
|
By:
If she has to come back...how about putting her on Craggy Island

Good old Jeremy never disappoints does he.

Sajid Javed think she is a security threat but does not want to have her questioned and gain any intelligence. He is a complete idiot playing to the gallery. This one may get stuck in the Courts for a long time. She cannot be made Stateless. Not sure how this plays out at all.
|
|
By:
You think this 19yo girl has valuable intelligence. Unreal. Besides she could be questioned without being brought home if they thought it was worthwhile.

By:
You know that she doesn't? Believe it or not she has a legal right to return although not a moral one.
|
|
By:
Mr Corbyn is pandering to his supporters. If only he was as emphatic, succinct and quick at dealing with antisemits and bullying in the Labour Party. Maybe votes is more important than the security and well-being of the British people walking the street in Britain, I guess.
This young woman is the least deserving and appropriate person to be given/awarded a British citizenship after choosing the evil ISIS over the country, and then asked to return showing little or no remorse. |
|
By:
What are you talking about impossible?
Corbyn had remained silent as this issue developed! The girl has British Citizenship already. She was born here. Being given / awarded British Citizenship is irrelevant. |
|
By:
It is funny that Corbyn chooses to support someone like her.
|
|
By:
Not funny at all but worse is the grandstanding of the Home Secretary!
Home many people have ISIS killed in the UK this year? Have many kids murdered in London this year? |
|
By:
WD, u not following the PSL?
|
|
By:
Ok, I accept your point - she was born here thus is British by birth. Nevertheless, the British government must ensure other British citizens and public on British streets are safe from the actions of supporters of ISIS eg using vehicles/machetes to murder the innocents on British soil or streets.
One can (legitimately) equate people killed by ISIS supporters and kids murdered in London - it's totally irrelevant, and abhorrent. |
