the "reassuring" letter has arrived from Juncker? & is full of nothing. The letter has arrived from May; & is full of nothing!
|
|
By:
“The letter isn’t legally binding,” DUP deputy leader Nigel Dodds told BBC radio. “The prime minister will struggle to justify what the delay was about.”
|

the PM says to get labour on side she will not only agree to keep work place ,regulations we cureently have but go further than the EU ON THEM,that in tory ,business eyes means more red tape so why doesn't someone ask her that been the case how does she think we will win make trade deals around the world, thought that was the whole point of leaving, get rid of eu regs to make it easier for countries to trade with us Singapore on the thames as boris and co would see it

Is that link to a real letter or a comedy thing?
Junker did not even bother to sign it properly. He just wrote a cross to make his name. Or maybe he cannot read and write? |

"I firmly believe that the deal we have struck is the best possible outcome given the principles of both sides" Therein lies the problem. The enfeebled Government has tried to make leaving the EU fit in with the wishes of both the EU and the Remainers. Impossible aim. |
|
By:
since most of us were born we have had relative peace and prosperity within the EU.
you've lost your minds if you think things will get better. |

absolutely correct, and virtually everything is meaningless in that scenario. What a pity there isn't some political commentators or MPs who can say that

to Arleystaion - obviously

I hope parliament passes May's deal
because I don't think leaving without a deal would be a good idea I am agreeing with the title of this thread ps The EU do not want us to leave so are not making it easy for us to leave, in fact they are probably making it as difficult as possible. Because if we leave, how long before another country wants to leave? We should have stuck to a COMMON MARKET which is what people thought they voted for in the 70's, me included. We should have read the small print. ![]() |

To be fair arley, I reckon it could have been possible. She's tried to do the complete opposite though. Roughly half the country was happy to stay in and their wishes were continually ignored and instead she's herself drew the red lines which have so hamstrung her ability to negotiate.
This has essentially been the latest in the series of hopeless Tory mismanagements. But still the idea that a vote for Labour is a vote for chaos gains traction with quite a lot of people. Staggering really. What this needed from the get go was an aim at consensus. At getting something that the whole country could accept. Maybe it needed cross-party co-operation, maybe it needed further referenda stipulating their preferences on the path to go down, it certainly needed more time to decide on our chosen path before. She rushed into it, the party have lied throughout, have been under-prepared and have tried to circumvent Parliament. Now they've run out of time and they're up sh!t creek. But still, they know there's still plenty of muppets who'll fall for the "but Labour will be worse" line. |
|
By:
We were not even provided with the small print back in the 1970's.
This is what we might have spotted then: The founding father of the European project, Frenchman Jean Monnet (google him as you won't believe me) wrote: "Europe's nations should be guided towards the Superstate without their people understanding what is happening. This can be accomplished by successive steps, each disguised as having an economic purpose, but which will eventually and irreversibly lead to federation". |
|
By:
of course the EU don't want us the leave. the clue is in them saying they don't want us to leave.
i do kind of agree that if we had stuck to it being about trade and common defence it would all be fine. the free movement of people was ok until new countries joined who were in a very different situation. having said that we have many Polish & a few Romanian families living in the neighbourhood & with kids at my kids school and they are all working and decent people. attack the policy but don't demonise the individuals., that just aint fair. |

Sorry, Porcupine - there was no chance of consensus on such a divided issue when the Remainers were such bad losers. The wishes of those that lost the binary Referendum had to be ignored if Leave was to be enacted. There has never been any chance of cross-party co-operation because party has been more important to politicians than nation.

Think you'll have to cancel - Shropshire will be in meltdown/shutdown post-Brexit. No supplies will get through. We are doomed! |
|
By:
they never expected the vote - hence they never have prepared anything other than to stay - now they are trying to convince us that to stay would be best - which is amazing after how we have been treated -
I don't think the EU system has any idea where we are coming from. To the Eu commission, the whole thing is sacrilege - they just don't see why someone would want to leave. Or maybe they know but would not admit it. Just like hitler would never understand that a lot of people didn't like his ideas either. |

Sadly no - the Government will have agreed to a hard border between Gloucestershire and Worcestershire so nothing will get up river beyond Tewkesbury. Batten down the hatches, old chap! |

arley - how do you propose to gain consensus if your opinion of Remainers is that they are "bad losers"? That's the exact attitude that's gotten us into this mess. You can't just completely ignore half the country. It's just plain daft. All you're going to do is split it even wider apart so that every fault is jumped on as an example of why Brexit is bad. If you hope that simply ignoring half the country they will give up and support you then you're dafter than David Davis. It's just been terrible decision after terrible decision till we've reached the point, after two years of negotiating and refining, that no-one likes the best deal she came up with. That's really quite an achievement. If this was sport, the tories would be forced to sit out the next election and start again with the local ones or something. |

Cameron and May have brought us to this. Probably two of the worst PM's we have ever had.
