No Kamikazee, a world cup happens once every four years. Something like a school level cup happens multiple times a year probably. I am sure British win more of that and since that happens more often, it just shows the cinsistency british sportsmen show.

You can't just count the world cups and say you were the best because you won the most.

edy British teams were more successful in Europe before they had any foreign players
They won more European trophies than any other country
And they had more different teams that won them than any other nation
Much greater strength in depth you see, like all sports

Never heard of Real Madrid?Wonv Europe's premier trophy the same number of times as all the British clubs put together.

I think Gareth Southgate should be made the new Queen. Took a team with about one truly good player very far in the latest world cup.

Can fully understand a Liverpool fan being stuck on past glories to be fair. It was the only way for them to feel good before the German arrived.

What you guys aren't getting is that you have to sink low enough to the British level to talk about their greatness. As lfc does, he has to count the number of European cups to prove how great British football is. If you sink low enough, you might not be able to beat the Brits. MMakes sense. Explains the Murray and his Davis cup as well.

They haven't won more than Spanish clubs.

nonsense detraveller , you’ve managed to name shumaker so far for Germany , I could name Hamilton and at least 5 other British world champions
And of course people like McRae in other motor sports or Mike Hailwood as great in his field as shumacker   , greater really
That sthe difference between Germany and Britain
We’re better

I thought the Andy Murray thing was a joke initially. I assumed that people would come up with loads of names of British sportsmen that have achieved more than Murray. Surely Johnny Wilkinson and Ian Botham are better rugby and cricket players than Murray is a tennis player?

This was exactly my point. And reason for posting on this thread. But lfc just took off.

I'm most surprised people even give Murray three majors. I had always been under the impression that the tennis season was only 4 (or now 5) weeks long for the average British mind and the rest was treated as exhibitions on unworthy surfaces.

We could easily , if we wish say that Steven Hendry has more world championships than any other player in the world
As shumacker has more formula 1 titles ( although Hamilton is close )

There are many more examples

Spain have won 36---Britain have won only 31.

You just spent about a trillion quid more on athletics when it became time to prepare for the 2012 olympic games. Before 2008, Great Britain was nowhere to be found on the medal tables.
