McDonalds is closed on Christmas Day for the first time I can remember so it will probably be cheese sandwiches, but with pickled onions to make them Christmassy.

Same here. Duck breast marinaded in hoisin sauce and honey with mini carrots, fine beans and pak choi; chocolate and vanilla ice cream as dessert, and a glass of Baileys Chocolat Luxe. On Boxing Day it will be steamed wild red salmon fillet with spinach, and noodles plus whatever goodies later. And watching horse racing on the box.

I'm going to my brothers, his wife is a very decent cook and I'm guessing it will be turkey and a joint of honey glazed ham.

Not going to relatives this year. Also, turkey at x'mas is a traditional I do not adhere to religiously; duck is tastier, and a close relative of turkey, is it not? I'll still have the carrots, ice cream and Baileys. If McDonnald or Kfc was open I might indulge - they do lovely fillet-o-fish and succulent chicken respectively.

Foie Gras, something from Mardi Gras? A 24 bird roast is an emu, is it not?

Pheasant breasts roasted underneath a brace of partridge topped with free-range pork chips from Ellises Farm on the Devon border. The pheasant breasts hot on Christmas Day, and a cold partridge torn apart by hand while watching the racing on the box on the 26th and the 27th.

I love squid. A quick dunk into hot boiling water or lightly fried then dip into a sauce (not creamy) eg chilli or light soy with spring onions and finely ground black pepper, yummy.

I'm not having any Xmas dinner. I live with my 88 yr old/young dad and he, just before Xmas,as he has done for the last 4 years, clears off to Manchester to see his 68 year old "lady friend' and he stays with her over Xmas, My father still has more  than enough lead in his pencil, to line a church roof. Which is quite apt because as a boy,he actually trained to be a priest at the up holland school. Anyways,I don't make a dinner for myself on Xmas day,I'll just grab anything I feel like eating, a pot noodle or whatever.I love eating meat but I've not eaten any for 2 years.

'Culvin', sorry to hear that. Hotels do x'mas dinner too, and not pricey either. Or get a prepared one from M&S or supermarket the day before and heat it up on x'mas day. Where are you?

No I don't gamble,I never gamble, that's what I tell my family, anyway.

I stopped eating meat over 2 years ago because I used to visit the Acorn urban farm in Kirby and play with the pigs, I loved the pigs.I used to take them the apples that fell
from my garden tree
Anyway, I returned one day after taking some photos at the farm and as I was having my
ham sandwich, tomato, branston pickle, I thought about my little piggy friends
and decided there and then to stop eating meat, for a time anyway. That time has now turned into , 2 years.

Also, those very disturbing photos of pigs crammed into crates inside an abattoir that Kenny Mann posted here, also made a contribution

Turkey and beef... I don't think they're a great combination, but my other half suggested it. I'll stick to my once a year turkey treat.

I keep thinking about going veggie......eating meat increases your chances of cancer.....humans don't need to eat meat.....you feel a lot better when you stop I hear.
