I think she's blinded by lofty ambitions, and certainly deluded.
Despite having little national political and/or social experiences - she was a local Labour Councillor in 2013 - she sought the Labour's nomination to be Mayor Of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough which she failed. After being elected to Parliament, in July 2017 she said she wished to be Britain's first black prime minister; suspended, and expelled in December 2018 following a conviction for perverting the course of justice relating to a speeding driving offence. A recall petition is in operation ending on 1st May to determine her present position as MP for Peterborough. |

Pleased to report she has been sacked after 27% of the electorate (19271 people) voted for a recall. A by election is to follow.
Very well done the 19271! |

There is to be a by-election in Peterborough after 19,261 people signed a recall petition to remove the city's disgraced MP Fiona Onasanya. Ms Onasanya, 35, was jailed in January, and released the following month, after lying about a speeding offence. She was expelled by Labour after her conviction and had been representing Peterborough as an independent. A 10% threshold was required to remove Ms Onasanya, who will be allowed to stand in the by-election. According to a spokeswoman for Peterborough City Council, the number of people who signed the petition amounted to 27.6% of eligible residents. Commons Speaker John Bercow confirmed the recall petition had been successful. He told MPs: "Fiona Onasanya is no longer the member for Peterborough and the seat is accordingly vacant. "She can therefore no longer participate in any parliamentary proceedings as a member of parliament." Ms Onasanya, who was jailed for perverting the course of justice, has become the first MP to be removed by the recall process, introduced by David Cameron in 2015. She was first elected to Parliament as a Labour MP with a slender majority of 607 in 2017.
The above from the beeb website. I was wondering if her brass neck would stand another election, but I fear I know the answer. |

Good riddance!

Kicked out of parliament and she's still knocked off the front pages by a sacked Tory minister.

Great news so good riddance to her.

Thanks HGS.
"She's no longer the MP for Peterborough...and can therefore no longer participate in any parliamentary proceedings as a MP". This is music to my ears as no one of her level of integrity and affront for Law must be allowed to walk the corridors of power in this country. |

The good news is that because she’s been an mp for less than 2 yrs she won’t receive a pension, that was probably a factor in her hanging on & delaying tactics.

"Advisory role within the Labour Party beckons"
Are you for real? The Labour Party is near un-electable as it is with that shoddy makeshift lightweight front bench with "Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum" at the front, and Noddy who's yet to open her gob in PMQ or debate on Brexit. Also, she's been expelled and most probably ostracised too, and rightly so. |

Enough of this bitch, she's history. As we're all "holier than thou" types on here it's now time for us all to move on to making sure Davies is the next one to go.

That's good news BARROWBOY. Would have been hard to swallow her getting anything.

I'd like to see Williamson gone too. He can protest his innocence from the roof top as much as he likes, but proving it or making a genuine effort of proving his innocence is an entirely different matter. At the moment he's done neither accept denying.
|
|
By:
Williamson's case different imo because we will not (and should not) be allowed to see the evidence which was taken into account.

That smacks of a kangaroo court LHF. Or do you mean it can't go to court because of that?
Seen something on twitter that links 3 people associated with Cameron (Advisers etc) who are now all in positions of power in Huawei. All have strong civil service connections as well. Will post full details once I've checked it out myself. |

Aka, nation's security more important than the likes of us
|
|
By:
Posy, if you feel that strongly start lobbying your local MP about it. She's history but Davies hasn't been given the boot yet and he also would be entitled to the same pension as her.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING can or must be leaked from any meeting of the National Security Council. How and what the gravitas or severity of the content of any leak is immaterial; the happenings within the National Security Council are gospel, and can/must not be compromised in any shape or form, period.
And, Ms Abbot is on BBC Election 2019 now, why? She's history, and so are her constantly regurgitated historical opinions and views not conducive to present politics. Soon, she'll come across repulsive and foolish for those regurgitations. |
|
By:
agreed about NSC, that's why I consider his case different. Abbot irrelevant unless it's party political point scoring (as if!). Nothing to choose between Onasanya & Davies although Davies was guilty of a financial matter so maybe the pension issue more relevant to his case?
