When you see certain posters names you know what you are dealing with. But you are correct-there is no room for reasoned argument on here because opinions are entrenched and no matter how good the discussion, very few will change their opinion (including me, but then I am always right).

the jewish people generally got far better treatment from the Islamic nations than they did from the so called christian ones.

totally agree Northanlight

I do not think USA/European involvement in the Middle East since the early 90's has helped much tbh

Now we have Russian involvement...the civil war in Syria goes on.

Does the Torah tell Jews to `convert or kill` Christians or muslims?  In case you don`t know, the answer`s `no`.
Does the Bible tell Christians to `convert or kill` Jews or muslims?  In case you don`t know, the answer`s `no`.
Does their scribblings tell muslims to `convert or kill` Jews or Christians?  In case you don`t know, the answer`s `yes!`.

It`s fairly simple.

it maybe didn't tell them to but that didn't seem to stop them.
i don't think any of those religions can take the moral high ground, although they all try.
it is all nonsense and fairytales and a way of justifying appalling behaviour.

It would be somewhat surprising if it did as much of it was written by Jews before islam existed.

The difference between Christianity and Islam is in the name
the clue is in the name Christians gave as their guide and example the teachings and life of Christ
And then there are the teachings and life of Muhammad
So they are not the same , don’t confuse one with the other

so explain the actions of the christian church over the years. it didn't really follow the teachings did it

That’s prople they are like that, however the many good things , the individual freedoms and democratic rights etc that we enjoy in countries such as Britain we would not have in a Muslim country
The vast majority of our achievements and progress in all aspects of life has been in Christian countries
Partly due to the religion and partly due to how it effects society
Now there are thousands of examples of this in Christian societies , and almost none in Muslim societies.
That’s how it is

We have had to go to war on occasion ,  yes , unfortunately that is sometimes necessary to protect the great freedoms we enjoy

You may say that Christians and Christian countries have done terrible things , yes they have
Such as Nazi germany
But the subtle difference is that it is Christian countries that put it right

very few things are wholly bad or good. the churches became institutions that wielded power and became political. many of the people that followed them were very good individuals.
many individual catholics are the salt of the earth and chartable to a fault but their church is a cesspit of corruption and wickedness. as are many, i'm not just picking on them

Do Nazi gernany in all its evil lasted only for 6 years of war.  Not decades or centuries
And then it was crushed and gone

You see Nazi Germany no longer exists , people since WW2 in Germany have been able to live in as beautiful a country as they might wish for
A Christian country

It was Christian countries such as Britain and America who have them those great freedoms and didn’t enslave them ,
Be thankful we were Christians

what time period are you talking about? i'm sure you always know what you mean but consistently fail to make it clear to anyone else.
are you saying britain & america never enslaved anyone?
By:
lfc1971
When: 29 Oct 18 17:16
I thought it was quite clear I was talking about now
Now if you want to go further back in history fine
I can assure you any progress you might find including ending slavery or any other individual freedoms  etc will have been brought about by Christians and Christian countries
Good

The first people to take African slaves, were Africans. It was traditional.

All progress in Africa was because of Britain , no one else
By:

that is very true, slavery was common. the first slaves in the USA were from eastern europe, criminals and political aggitators form this country also were forced into slavery over there.
when euopeans saw the slave trade in operation in africa the penny dropped and deals were done. the white slaves kept running off and could not be spotted in a crowd.
black, bingo, problem solved.
men are very greedy & very wicked.
By:

yes that’s true , but don’t confuse the life of Christ and his example with the life of Muhammad and his example
That’s were you are getting confused

But the Africans were happy to capture other Africans and sell them to Arabs and Europeans northanlite. Children are only taught about the European wrong uns these days, why is that?

History teachers have forgotten that Africans were happy to capture other Africans and sell them, it would spoil the narrative.
