Hello nil desperandum, all is not lost!

You might have to start living your life as a liberal nut eating, sandal wearing tree huggerLaugh!

Ok ok, a fate worse than death!

Listen Dan, I don't believe in God but God believes in me. I only eat what God made and sometimes baked beans! Don't buy most things in a can, anything in plastic containers that you have to put in an oven. Any processed food including cheese is sheite even if it tastes good.No pizzas!

Don't eat much that grows beneath the ground like potatoes ( sweet potatoes are better ), no pasta, spaghetti, potatoes!

Sorry man but you need to eat wegetables, fresh meat and fruit, fish. No dried fruit or smoothies.

It ain't that bad. Live life and exercise even if that means walking past rich peoples houses.

Food should be a joy and pleasure Dan. Eat fresh, love life!

Only what is present in the foods consumed which is very little there is no need to consume any more as the body creates it's own and it aint healthy despite what the mainstream would have us believe.

I've nicked this from Dr McDougall:

The body uses fat primarily for energy storage when no food or other immediate source of fuel is available, and cholesterol is needed for many critical cellular functions, so both are part of a normal, healthy body. Having said that, the body produces all the cholesterol it needs; and as for fat, plants already contain adequate amounts and only plants make the essential fatty acids your body needs to function. What’s more, plant foods never contain cholesterol.

Animal foods, on the other hand, provide too much fat, especially the most harmful kind (saturated fat), which damages the arteries and causes heart disease and stroke. Beef derives 60% – 80% of its calories from fat; pork, 80% – 95%; chicken, 30% – 50%; and fish, 5% – 60% percent. Meat is also rich in cholesterol. A 3 1/2 ounce serving of beef contains 85 mg of cholesterol; pork contains 90 mg; mackerel fish contains 95 mg; turkey, 83 mg; tuna, 63 mg; and chicken (skinned-white), 85 mg.
Vegetable Oils are Not Health Foods

Even poly and monounsaturated fats – found in large amounts in vegetable oils and fish – have been shown to depress the immune system, increase bleeding and promote cancers, especially those of the colon, prostate and breast. Because all fats are easily stored by the body, too much dietary fat makes people overweight and lays the foundation for a host of other problems like heart disease, cancer, and adult-onset diabetes.

Coachbuster as of this year starting eating this diet I got rid of all allergies by the time hayfever season arrived and went from 3 or 4 one a day tablets each day for years to 0 with no allergy symptoms whatsoever and have had 0 illness either not even a sniffle, basically ditching all meats, dairy and fats have sorted my immine system something I was sceptical about initially.

I think ditching the meat , dairy and other fats isn't a bad idea .. as long as there are natural fats in the food i do believe that's the best way to roll ,trouble with fats is they make food taste  nice .
Nuts for example are something like 50% fat and really won't do you any mischief although they do add to the calorie count ..fats do help you absorb the vitamins  (maybe you have enough fat
for that )...

there is so much different info out there but i  think stick to how you're going ...sounds a healthy deal .

More overweight people should give it a try as it's the easiest way to reach a healthy weight/sustain and difficult to overeat as the body doesn't store these foods as fat easily despite what you read in the mainstream.
Tried to get my brother to give it a try as he's always been a stocky kid but overweight but he's clouded by everything he's known about nutrition and fitness from the mainstream which is all created for profit above everything else.
By:
DenzilPenberthy
When: 15 Oct 18 22:58
Should add my other brother is a fitness trainer (well qualified) and doesn't quite share my views,he's big on more protein/healthy fats in line with that industry when the reality is most of the protein they ingest stresses the liver/kidneys and ends up in the toilet and the fats will be stored somewhere you don't want them.
By:

When: 15 Oct 18 23:47
it is very true what you say Denzil about protein and liver stress  ... most we need in reality is between 50 and 80g  unless you're lifting boulders for a day job lol .

I eat a fair bit of fat   and have stayed a constant weight  but i would have no hesitation in ditching fats to lose weight .
Fat is something that can be hard to avoid for most folk  ..its here , there and everywhere ,and what isn't normally fat contains sugar  ... i find it hard to enjoy low fat dairy  for example .
It's all about discipline i guess  .. I hope you succeed with this anyway

The myths surrounding consumption of protein, and the perception that eating any amounts are good for us,  must be one of the greatest achievements of the food industry in the field of misleading people into thinking what they should eat.

Oats are 12% protein, wholemeal wheat flour up to 14%.

Oats are up to 8% fat as well.

Horses eat oats.
Gorillas are vegetarians too, and nobody kicks sand in their face.
Where do elephants get their protein from?
Look at the size of them, how much protein do they need?
By:
Coachbuster
When: 16 Oct 18 20:15
I think Gorillas and the like  make their own protein ...   our human bodies can't and can only utilise 10g of protein an hour anyway  ,most of what we eat goes to waste / turns to fat  .

The amount we need would be found in random foods  ...it's not something we need to consciously think about

I've also seen studies showing the same level of protein synthesis over any 24 hour period if you ate all your daily protein in one go instead of split meals i.e the aminos are stored and used when you need them which adds credibilty to utilising so much per hour.

some of it is just common sense really Denzil... the same with most things .  Alcohol is pretty much the same sadly .

It's typical though how the body can store fat but store very few vitamins and minerals  Laugh

Yes.
Read up on the BS written by Dr McDougall, or you could get a sore trunk or rigid fetlocks, or lose some of your ability to swing through trees efficiently.

Whatever you keep saying - This is NOT a magical cure/recipe/solution to illness.
It's just a thing for bodybuilders or the gullible.

It's become obvious you both (for reasons you've tried to make clear) think the constant repetition of this quack's "preachings" might persuade others of his crap's veracity.
Perhaps instead of assuming everyone else is missing a trick, you might consider it's a load of cleverly made-up twaddle.

Where do you get that from?

The rest is your obvious arrogance and unwillingness to accept that what you've been told is incorrect, unfortunately for yourself you have health issues which are not helped by you current lifestyle and ignorance.

I'm sure the guy can answer for himself but on this thread those comments were in a response part of a back and forth with STUDYFORM who had been told that stress was the reason for his illnesses, context needed it's all easy to follow on this thread.

Stress causes all sorts of illnesses and medical conditions.

There is confusion about what stress, like depression is.  The name is a bit of a catchall and does a disservice to genuine suffers.  Making it an easy target for the ignorant.

I've never been a follower of the psychosomatic brigade, who claim that mental processes cause many illnesses.

This seems very lazy medicine to me.
It's akin to the doctor telling the patient that it's their own fault that they're ill, because we're baffled by what's causing it.
And the wide-eyed patient going along with this stranger and taking his mind altering drugs to get hooked on,  whom they consider to be an infallible God because they've got MD after their name.

While all the doctors that STUDYFORM called quacks earlier,  have MD after their names as well.

Yet stress must have a role to play in medicine, because there is no doubt it can bring on a heart attack or stroke.

I was stressed & worried in the summer and lost a stone in weight. Why can't the boffins see something in this, do away with the nasty side of stress, and bottle the good side - losing weight?

Someone I knew many years ago always seemed in an agitated state.
He was aware of this, and the reason he gave, was his doctor told him he had IBS brought on by stress.
Anyone could see the stress by just looking at him
He was taking the usual drugs, he'd been on them for ages.

I bumped into years later and he seemed a different person, I mentioned how calm he seemed these days in contrast to his previous behaviour.

Oh he said, I changed my doctor and they found I'd got gallstones, I had them removed and I'm fine now.

My friend, who was the first person in our school to go to Oxford, avoid carbs and has a fat based diet. He's the same age as me, 55 and is the correct body weight. He's into triathlons but says if he consumes carbs, regardless of the exercise he does he will put on weight. He says his ideal meal would be a fatty piece of steak, covered in a pepper cream sauce, with a plate full of buttered cabbage.

When I told him I was type 2 diabetic, he said I can cure that. He said I need to go for 2 weeks without carbs at all, but recommended seeing my Doctor first, as it might affect my blood pressure.

I thought this was "quackery" but when I looked into it, there is evidence for a fat based diet to help with type 2 diabetes:

https://www.diabetes.co.uk/diet/low-carb-high-fat-diet.html

https://www.healthline.com/health/type-2-diabetes-ketogenic-diet

I think denzil mentioned he had tried the ketogenic diet but it was not sustainable for him, or something like that.

And that's the whole point, these high fat diets or high carb diets may work, but who wants to be restricted to just these food groups? It must be, like studyform and people have said, common sense, eat and drink what you like but cut down on it all - smaller portions, less alcholhol etc, a bit of exercise.

I can't help feeling that these so called experts, boffins, academics etc and I include my mate in this, might be clever, but they have no common sense. They see things in black & white, either/or.

When I told him I had suffered from a vitamin D defiency and I now take supplements, becuase I was getting enough of the vitamin through sunlight, he said, "yes, and most of it comes through the eyes, that's why I don't wear sunglasses anymore."

Do you see (excuse the pun) where I'm coming from?

Of course he will, his body will switch to burning the carbs and store the fat he's consuming.

Here's a video that will muddy the waters to the point of frustration for those who haven't yet decided which camp to join.
It's presented by Professor Tim Noakes, who has qualifications coming out of his ears. But no doubt considered just another quack by the fool STUDYFORM.

It's a brilliant in it's presentation, with impressive charts based on a study which claims the merits of a low/carb high/fat diet.
This is the direct opposite of the high/carb low/fat diet cited by Denzil and myself.

The key here is in the study quoted, it was done using current sufferers of metabolic syndrome.
And of course no details of exactly what they were given to eat.
Which is crucial, because the influence of sugar added or removed, alone could have greatly influenced the figures.
