There is a lot of chatter on American fora about one of Kavanaugh's accusers being a hoax perpetrated by some 4chan user and his girlfriend. If true Michael Avenatti, the lawyer who made the allegations public and subsequently sent them to the senate judiciary committee, could find himself in a spot of bother.
Donald Trump was caught out by a prank caller a while back if you recall, prompting Avenatti to label the president "a complete amateur." It will be interesting to see how this story develops. Is this latest rumour a prank in itself, perhaps? |

My personal suspicion is that these allegations are purely motivated for political gain. As a judge Kavanaugh has held a high public profile for many years, so why choose now to make such serious accusations? And why not directly to the police instead of engaging the services of a celebrity lawyer of dubious repute? And why not thirty-plus years ago when the alleged crimes took place?
It smacks of a desperate and disgusting attempt to ruin an innocent man's reputation to me. |

Imagine being in a similar situation yourself: Publicly being accused of serious sexual offences committed three decades ago. The claims are entirely false but, given the length of time involved and nature of accusation, it is practically impossible to prove your innocence.
It is a nightmarish situation. One, I would suggest, that has been engineered deliberately on this occasion. At least six democrat politicians have stated that they believe Kavanaugh's accuser before any sort of hearing has taken place. |

Whatever happens now Kavanaugh's reputation is in tatters, millions of Americans will still believe him to be guilty regardless of any evidence to the contrary. Consider that for a moment if the man is entirely innocent of any wrongdoing. Put yourself in his shoes.

Another shameful thing I meant to add in my last post was how the likes of CNN are currently reporting the signed affidavit from Avenatti's client, Julie Swetnick. They seem to be mistaking it for a signed confession from Kavanaugh.

I don't believe Avenatti's client has accused Kavanaugh of being one of the gang rapists. Just that he was present at the party. One news outlet, however, accused him of "waiting in line."
Invidious and prejudicial reporting of this nature is sadly typical nowadays, but in this instance it is particularly shameful. |

It was political from the get go. He got the nod as soon as he claimed a sitting president could not be prosecuted. He is 100% a political appointment to their rather ludicrous Supreme Court set up. In case that was in doubt Trump actually said yesterday, whilst referring to the issue in his press conference, "if the Republicans win tomorrow." I would say that is politicising things a tad. |
